Watson's Goal

Post by Sismis »

Where has that been? I nearly choked on my beer. A few other nice kicks as well. I'm hoping that was exactly the tonic he needs to get some confidence. He's big enough to break open packs and if he can slot a few more of those or hit a lead from a stoppage, his value to the team could be immense.

His kicking is actually pretty good when he doesn't hesitate to kick it! When he kicked that goal, he didn't look to handball it off, stop, prop and kick it. He just kicked through the ball.

In his last two weeks I dont think he has missed a target by foot, which is a credit to him fr having the confidence in himself.

I'm sure he could have handballed that far.:)
But I think that Sheedys' message is finally getting through to him. Rather than handballing all the time, don't be scared to actually kick the bloody thing. Not sure what his stats were but I would say they were about 50/50 in kick to handball this week. Which is bloody good to see that's for sure and certainly will improve his team position.

He just trusted his ability and didn't think too much. Persistance with young players pays off.

Fantastic goal, but when will we focus on the positive that he is just about the best handball in the business, and stop focussing on the negatives of his kicking? (Before flaming me, I realise that has not happened in this particular thread, thankyou.)

well said dingus. His handballing is consistently some of the best in the league!

I made mention of it when it happened in the game thread. Was a beauty from just outside 50. Split the middle and I said, How was that for a kick from Watson!

I noticed he's been kicking a lot more, even to targets that he could hit by hands 15-30 metres away... usually when he has time to stop and think "Hey I could actually kick it to him" and then tick tock tick tock he kicks the ball.

Once he gets it into him as a natural instinct to kick the ball rather than use his hands to hit targets further afield, he'll certainly be the "premier" midfielder we've been hoping he'd become.

Meanwhile, his hands in close are incredible.
