We live and die with the club. We pay it far more attention than reasonable people should. Most of us would trade winning lotto for a premiership.

People that dont bleed for their club, dont know what the fk they are missing out on.

Spot on. We are so passionate about the club it hurts. You have to admit, at the end of the day, we have had a good ride in terms of success. The last two years have been the worst and we are turning it around, whereas most teams are useless for nearly 4 years before they turn it around.

Under Sheeds in 27 years, we have made 9 preliminary finals.

I doubt any other team has done that over 25 odd years, apart from Hawthorn who had their golden era in the 80's. Even still, I think they have had 9 as well.

I just finished watching the replay. I might watch the 3rd quarter again.

f*** this team annoys me some times. We served up some shit for a month or so, but the past month we have played some football that I havent see us play for 2-3 years (consistently). Buts that football, thats life. Take the good with the bad, because whe its good, its ******* awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not really, but I'm almost glad I wasn't at the ground tonight.
Sheesh, just sitting in my lounge chair and I was pumped. Yelling out in both joy and frustration at different times, and when the siren went, well, I leapt out my chair and punched the air and screamed, and basically just jumped around the room for ages. A good thing no one could see me methinks

I was at the game and screamed like a madman for about 5 minutes after the siren. Same with everyone around me, just going nuts.

I love it that we bleed for the club.

People who think footy is just a game just don't get it I reckon.

I love the passion within the Essendon Football club. The supporters (well most) bleed for their team and wins like this certainly prove it. What was the official attendance? It was fantastic for an interstate team V Essendon. I just wish we were at the 'G. Other supporters don't understand the passion Essendon supporters have. I think another good example was last year against Brisbane. After 15 games without a win we still got 40,000 odd against an interstate team and the atmosphere was amazing! I love bombers.

I wasn't able to make it. Second melbourne game in three years I've missed. Have torn ligaments in my ankle and muscle in my lower leg, so I had to see the physio back home (three hours from Melbourne) plus I have 2 year 12 exams next week! Reading this makes me very jealous of you guys. I hate not being there! I won't miss another match until 2010 from now. I ain't missing that kind of game again!

I got home, had another 20 beers, then went to the casino and played. Had a nap today but pretty much havent slept yet.

When we won 6 straight. Round 3, 2004 (defeated West Coast by 6 points) to Round 8, 2004 (defeated Adelaide by 51 points).

Look out Port Adelaide, the Bombers are coming and are hungry. We rolled Adelaide over there, we can roll you too, especially when we've just matched and gone 1 better with the best in the business.

I said to a mate of mine this morning (a Port supporter) that if I were him, I'd be running scared coz next week the giant killers are coming to town. If we knock off Port that'll be every premier since we won the flag.

I wasn't there but at 10pm on Friday night I wouldn't have wanted to be anywhere else in the world. I could have been in bed with Jessica Alba, Cameron Diaz and Kate Moss and I still would have rather been at the Dome.

Replay didn't finish until well after 2am but that made no difference. Had so much trouble getting to sleep after that. Shouldn't have even bothered.

I never really read this properly. What a great post.

It is a weird life that true devotees of a football club lead - where a large part of your life rides on results on the field - and there are so many times where your devotion and your passion causes you terrible pain when the team is doing badly. But its nights like Friday night that do make it all worthwhile.

Some people may think that football is the opiate of the masses, but you're right Rob, they don't know what they are missing out on.

The roar when Scotland kicked the goal to put us in front was the 2nd loudest i have heard, behind the time when Alessio took that mark against Sydney in 2001.

The ball was coming right at us and straight off the boot, you knew it was home.

I remember reading a while ago on the old BT that people were saying that we have no passion as supporters. Maybe its because we expected to win games (back then anyway) where as now, we are realising how important wins against the odds are.

Those wins, you just want to keep them on tape forever and ever.
