i am still totally shocked, gutted, i actually feel sad whenever i think of footy at the moment.

i am off on overseas holidays and have missed the past couple of weeks.

I think Sheeds should have been offered another 3 years. the man is the EFC.

the decision by a 'board' with its own 'benchmarks' i just frikkin hate it.

i still refuse to think of footy as a business. footy aint that, its a f#$king FAMILY.

and you do not treat your most important family like that.

i am more than angry sad and dismayed, i know kev will rise above the situation and be treated well by all, the bollocks about it being a hard decision.

sheeds deserves to leave the efc on his own terms.

Seriously Tom, you gotta move on. Decision is made and it was a mutual agreement - otherwise Sheeds would not be coaching the rest of the season. The club has made a very difficult and brave decision, and Sheeds has accepted that decision with absolute aplomb. It was handled with great dignity, and in my opinion, he has seen out his contract and has NOT been sacked. He has an opportunity to celebrate the last 6 weeks (maybe more) with stadiums jam packed with success rich fans paying their respects and who want to thank him for the many special moments of glory. That's the way it should be and the farewell he deserves. Some of the greatest coaches in the history of the game never had that opportunity. At least Sheeds goes out celebrating.

I'm OK with the decision. I was impressed with the announcement. And I am amazed at Sheedy's composure. But I am going to have to admit that I do not know how my emotions will be at the final siren in R21. Just thinking about it now chokes me up a bit. But as Sheedy has said himself "we gotta move on".

Quite frankly, this decision and the whole process has not been a surprise to me at all.

His contract was up, and the EFC had to decide whether he would get another tenure or not.

The odds were high that they were not going to renew.

The issue for me all year, re: Sheeds leaving was how it would be handled. Interestingly it comes to light that Jacko and he made the decision in January. I find that fantastic. Jacko is a forward thinker, and obviously unafraid to face the BIGGEST of issues. What a secret to have and protect!

Their discussion just had to help the whole process progress well....and in retrospect, it has.

The final handling of the media was always going to be tricky, and in the circumstances, that was even done well. The EFC should be congratulated.

I've had a few phone calls...mostly discussion with friends with similar thoughts. We discuss this sorta stuff when we meet at games.

Great Essendon Icon - had 27 years at one club - universally admired - lets acknowledge his achievements.

But, to be equating this experience to a death in the family clearly shows that those expressing this sentiment have never experienced a death in the family.

I thought Esseendon Fans were a little more mature I guess.

I will arrive home on MOnday morning to a different state, as I hear Bracks is gone as well. Its like one of thos 'where were you when?' scenarios. Was in Fazana Croatia when I turned on my mobile only to get a steady stream of SMSs. Thought something may be happening but didnt expect this kind of news. Was 50-50 on the idea of retaining him, but didn't expect the board to have the balls to let him go. Is there any speculation on who will replace him, or if he is a chance to coach another club?
