Has anyone though that this is a problem and could have been a factor last night?

We couldnt run last night, McVeigh and Winderlich looked spent by quarter time. Even going forward we didnt look quick or run with any purpose.

We have been a bit up and down all year. Some games we have finished off very well, and others have completely dropped. Having only one player in the bench for the last may not have helped.

There is no doubt though that some players need to increase their fitness base, Licha is one, but he has improved dramatically this year, and another pre-season will help considerably.

I don't think fitness had anything to do with it. More like shitness.

You don't need stamina to handball properly. You don't need stamina to decide where to dispose of the ball. You don't need stamina to work out that you have marked the ball 30 metres in the clear and work out you can play on and kick a goal. You don't need stamina to have a set shot at goal....

yea u do, u ever tried kicking a footy when your completely stuffed, or tackle someone, or mark the ball.

The simplier things become harder when you are stuffed, stamina is a very important part of football. You need to play four quarters of football. The amount of running done by footballers today is huge. They need to recover a lot faster and keep on running. Stamina is bloody important and it does effect the skill level

Sounds like we need a new skills coach AND a new fitness advisor.

Huh?

This was Round 21 do you realise? Are you suggesting these blokes haven't yet established their full capacity to "run out" a game? Since when does stamina affect a shit handball in the opening minutes of the 2nd Q? The list of examples is endless. I can't be bothered breaking down the 49 clangers or the 25% ineffective disposal for you.....

The problem is too many of the team became lazy, and the guys that do run are doing extra cause they are trying to cover more than one player some need a rocket in the bee hind

I don't think the fitness of the side is too bad. The effort and skill level let us down last night.

I think we're probably very fit, but we'll never be able to prove it.

The reason why we seem unfit is that we actually run twice as far as any other team in the AFL simply because all our running is along the boundary lines instaed of down the middle (except of course after we turn it over to the opposition and have to chase them back!)
