We are not writting essays here, so I for one, do not pay attention too my grammar. I think we all know where the apostrophe goes, but can't be f***** worrying about if we put it in or not.
Why is it a problem to expect someone to spell correctly or to use the correct grammar?

Is it really that hard to read your posts before you submit?
It isn't hard, I just cant be f***** wasting time on a discussion forum, making sure every word is spelt correctly and every single detail is done to perfection.

If it is tat big of a problem, make it one of your rules to have close to perfect grammar and spelling. If you break the rules, you may be given warnings of banned.
Or f***, why not find a php hack for spell check. There are plenty of hacks out there.

I hear you Rock. All you need to do is switch on the TV and you'll see shows like Neighbours, Home and Away, Big Bruvva and Estrayan Ordol (Bogan) to see how our mother tongue is being neglected in Australia. It only makes sense that writing skills have gone out the window along with good taste...

If anyone's bored one day, checkout a Mike Judge movie called "Idiocracy". This thread reminded me of it. The basic synopsis is this: In the future, the gene pool dips when academics stop breeding and the world is overrun by idiots. Funny and disturbing at the same time...

Interesting people equate intelligence with grammar/spelling skills. Basically a rote learned skill that due to pedantic adherence to outdated archaic rules, totally ignores logic and is laden with exceptions. A computer has no intelligence yet can spell beyond the ability of any person.

Also interesting people stating that to simplify or modify the language is disrespecting it. These people obviously have no time for people such as Shakespeare.

Language is organic and evolving allowing for variance in context and popular use. By blindly applying grammatical laws you could in fact be breaking them!

With such a wonderful language including words such as gnome and knife, who could get it 'wrong'?

Being an academic doesn't automatically make one a perfect user of language and spelling. I have seen some shockers. Besides, they are too busy playing world of warcraft to worry about it.

My favourite post in the history of BomberTalk.

The grammar Nazis of this world are the ones who put kids off the amazing thing that is the English language. If we leaned more towards the attitudes expressed in the above post we might actually excite people into engaging with art and learning again.

If your name is gringo, shouldn't the first letter be capitalised?

Even as an alias, it should be capitalised.

Ah yes, my pet hate. A bloke who has played over 200 games, won 2 best & fairests and a premiership player and they don't know how to spell Lucas. I think I mentioned this in a thread I titled "ESSENDAN".

I am forever picking up people (especially those from SinCity for some reason) who insist on pronouncing it 'Esser - Din'

GLENN : K-R-O-K-O-D-A-I-L"
TEACHER : No, that's wrong
GLENN : Maybe it s wrong, but you asked me how I spell it!

TEACHER : Millie, give me a sentence starting with "I."
MILLIE : I is...
TEACHER : No, Millie..... Always say, "I am."
MILLIE : All right... "I am the ninth letter of the alphabet."
