Who Would You Keep?

Post by 2QIK4U »

4 have retired and 1 was delisted. Rama and Hocking were promoted to the senior list therefore 3 spots remain. We are likely to pick-up at least 3 players (maybe 4) in the draft and 1 would be left for the PSD.

Assuming that we take 4 in the draft, it means two of MJ, Pev and Kepler are going to be given their marching orders.

Pev and MJ are getting on and are taking up positions that could be filled by our next crop of midfielders. My logic for keeping Kepler out of the three is purely based on age and that he can be a backup KPP if something happens to one of the established players aka Lucas/Lloyd.

In order to leave.

1. MJ. EFC warrior, but is facing his end. Too slow essentially, and doesn't cope with the bigger grounds. FP is just about his best option now, but there are others in front of him.

2. Pev. Workhorse, but nearing his end also.

3. KB. Tries his guts out afaic, and will be a decent footballer given the positional chances. Others may be in front and his best opportunities may be ???

I'd keep Pev out of the three simply because he works so hard and is so hard at the ball. MJ, unfortunately has run his body into the ground for us. I hate seeing someone who has worked so hard for us go, but if he can get an opportunity at another club, I'd be happy for him.

71,
etc.
PSD pick 5 ?.

Uncontracted (3 players):

Bradley, Kepler 16 199 cm 100 kg 13/11/1985
Peverill, Damien 11 184 cm 83 kg 12/7/1979
Johnson, Mark 1 180 cm 81 kg 23/5/1978

Retain none of these players - 6 draft selections, 1 PSD and 1 rookie.
Retain 1 - 5 draft selections, 1 PSD, 1 rookie.
Retain 2 - 4 draft selections, 1 PSD, 1 rookie.
Retain 3 - 3 draft selections, 1 PSD, 1 rookie.

I think that we'll retain two and I think they'll be Kepler and Pev. The question will then be whether what we can get at pick #55 or PSD #5 in this draft are better than MJ.

I also think McKinnon will move off the rookie list and we'll get an extra rookie spot.

I have a feeling Kepler won't want to sign. Apparently he wanted to go to Perth adn his family wanted him to go home aswell. Out of Pev and MJ I would rather Mj. MJ and Peveril are both tough guys, but I feel mark Joshon is more value. Here is why. He can stay back and be a general down there, yet go up forward and snag a few goals.

Lee could be an option. can't see him getting any game time ahead of the abundance of KPP we have at the moment. Otherwise mark johnson.

ammmm ok AndrewB that doesnt make sense to me>>
Retain none of these players - 6 draft selections, 1 PSD and 1 rookie.
Retain 1 - 5 draft selections, 1 PSD, 1 rookie.
Retain 2 - 4 draft selections, 1 PSD, 1 rookie.
Retain 3 - 3 draft selections, 1 PSD, 1 rookie.
"Retain none of these players - 6 draft selections, 1 PSD and 1 rookie."
thats means u'd delist 3...correct ??..... which means we have a total of 6 spots to fill not .7 cuz 5 gone to date and 2 promoted leaving 3 more spots to add (5-3) then add on 3 delistings thats 6 (3+3) not 7. So it wouldn't be 5 draft selections and 1 PSD or just 6 draft selections instead.

Correct me if i'm wrong. And yeh work ur way down ur list cutting one off each line. Also I thought we could get more than 1 rookie. not too sure on that one though.

I'd say Bradley and MJ might go PSD and go with 4 draft selections and 1 PSD if we can pick up anyone decent. Brennan wont last one thinks.

Did you account for Daniher, who has already been taken?

I agree, as sad as it will be to see MJ go i think it is for the better. Hopefully another club will give him a couple more years as i would hate to see his career end this way. With the season Pev has had i highly doubt he will be let go. Instead of Bradley i would prefer we delist Lee. Yeah he may be under contract but at least Kep looks like playing senior football, Lee was struggling even with bendigo. Under Knights i would prefer to keep Kep at least for one year just to see how he goes with a new set of ideas.

True. At least Kep has a chance (even if it's an outside one) of becoming a decent player. Lee, I just can't see it.

Yep, yet another one of our wasted draft picks.

We have 33 contracted senior list players. We are allowed to place two of those players on the veterans list. That means we have 31 on our senior list. We have three rookies. With two on the veterans list we are allowed four rookies. I think the reason for the numbers discrepency may be to do with the way that Rama was contracted... unless you can see someone missing from that list? I got it off the EFC site.

So... we've got Daniher, six senior list spots to fill, one rookie spot and three uncontracted players.

Yeah, but it can be a bit of a lottery. You can't expect every player who we pick up to be a decent player. Look at the late nineties - there were still plenty of duds in there. Lalich being one who springs to mind.

Yeah true i guess, it doesn't help that we seem to have picked up more than most though...

I was at Lalich's first game in 1998 against the eagles, unfortunately when he came onto the ground it was because Hirdy limped off with those stress fractures. Lalich was a runner for the club for a bit too i think.

Lalich is a very good example of a player who seems to tick all the boxes and just never gets there. Although he was never the fastest bloke in the world, was he?

Lalich!! Jesus, you reckon Bradley panics when he gets the ball. Poor old Jud would freeze whenever the pil came near him. Had a great leap but not much else.
Too far for Baker now he's on to it, now he’s got it, OPEN GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Dons are in front by one point at the 8 minute mark

Won an important hitout to Heffernan which ultimately ended in Moorcroft taking the greatest mark of all (Lucas used his right foot for it too)
