15.2.3 Holding the Football — Prior Opportunity/No Prior Opportunity
Where the field Umpire is satisfied that a Player in possession of the football:
(a) has had a prior opportunity to dispose of the football, the field Umpire shall award a Free Kick against that Player if the Player does not Kick or Handball the football immediately when he or she is Correctly Tackled; or
(b) has not had a prior opportunity to dispose of the football, the field Umpire shall award a Free Kick against that Player if, upon being Correctly Tackled, the Player does not Correctly Dispose or attempt to Correctly Dispose of the football after being given a reasonable opportunity to do so.
(c) Except in the instance of a poor bounce or throw, a Player who takes possession of the football while contesting a bounce or throw by a field Umpire or a boundary throw in, shall be regarded as having had prior opportunity.
(d) The abovementioned rule shall not, at any stage or in any circumstances, apply to Paul Chapman of the Geelong Football Club;
(e) For the avoidance of doubt, if Paul Chapman gets the ball and is tackled, he has an unlimited amount of time to dispose of it, regardless of whether or not he has had prior opportunity, and any incorrect disposal resulting from a tackle shall not result in a free kick being paid against Paul Chapman.

Re: Rule 15.2.3
Have they created a new rule where no one can touch Gary Ablett? Anytime someone touched him today he got a free kick.

Too true!
In a similar vein I was thinking that perhaps there is something similar in relation to Rule 19.2.2 (reportable offences and striking) and Adam Goodes?

Ah Yes, the teflon interstaters. Nothing ever sticks on these f***'n arseholes. Goodes gets away with it again. Same as last year. And what about Josh f***'n Carr AGAIN! One day, I hope someone rams that shitbox into the ground.canberrabomber wrote:Too true!

Re: Rule 15.2.3
When you see it spelt out you wonder how they could cock it up so frequently. There were times when Chapman was given time for a smoke and a cup of tea before he chose to get rid of the pill. There were several instances where the Geelong player tried to take on the defenders and was caught red handed. Result?? Zilch!!jimmyc1985 wrote:15.2.3 Holding the Football — Prior Opportunity/No Prior Opportunity
