ESS 4.2 6.7 12.10 17.14 116
Haw 1.8 6.8 9.11 10.12 72
See the Bombers fly up, up!
To win the premiership flag.
Our boys who play this grand old game,
Are always striving for glory and fame!
See the bombers fly up, up,
The other teams they don't fear,
They all try their best,
But they can't get near,
As the bombers fly up!

Damn we had friends over tonight, so couldn't watch the game, just watched the last quarter on TV.
I tell you what there are some Hawk supporters at work who are absolutely going to f****** cop it on Monday, been spinning shit all week about the absolute flogging they were going to give us, talk about Franklin and/or Roughead breaking Fred Fanning record for most goals in a game etc etc.

f*** that felt good. It was just good to see the boys go for a run, pass the ball on quickly (And not have that sinking feeling that it was because there were no targets up front) and - most importantly - finish it all off nicely.
Hawthorn had moments where they looked dangerous, but we never let them get a run on.
Very happy. Now to string two wins together!

Thats the next challenge... the Saints seem to be a superior team to the Hawks at the moment but if we play the way we did last night with every member of the team doing their bit then who knows we may have to upsets in a row!!keri wrote:f*** that felt good. That game was a massive, MASSIVE f*ck you to the people who have written off people like Lovett-Murray, Monfries and Stanton in the last few weeks/months/years.
They CAN play, but in a team full of 20-year-olds we are going to be inconsistent.
Particularly with Stants and Gus - they are still only 22 years old (I think Stants is only just 23). In a year or two they will be guns (Stanton is already IMO).
Very impressed with Hooker and Pears - Tayte Pears looks a brilliant player, so composed in pressure situations and both boys are good kicks and marks.
Dempsey - much more suited to a negating role in my opinion, rather than a bursting-from-half-back role. Sounds silly when his disposal and speed are supposedly his strengths (I remain unconvinced on both) but we saw with good closing speed, reading of the play and a good vertical leap he affected a heap of good spoils and cut off a few kicks.
Great game from the skipper as well, dominated up forward as he had to against an undermanned Hawks backline.
