WOW!!! Big Statement.
What about Steve Silvagni? F.B. of the Century
This has always given me the shits... he was always talked up as the greatest, before the question had even finished being asked. I got the feeling that it didn't matter if there were other defenders around, past, present or future, that might have been in the same ilk.
But it won't matter so much if, nay when, Fletch gets named as the Full Back of All Time
For me, much more damaging than Silvagni ever was!
I told my 6 year old nephew who attended his first footy game on the weekend to remember that Dustin Fletcher goal for the rest of his life! Will have witnessed a champion at work!
I think you have to seriously rate him in the Top 10 Essendon players of all time and probably one of the Top 5 Full Backs of all time for any club.

Should have been All Australian at least 6 or 7 other years as well.

Realistically I can only comment on the players I've seen play. In that time he is second only to Hird.
Yep im definately with you on that one... I have also been lucky enough to witness some great EFC champs of the modern era during one of the most successful times in our history (Mercs, Smokin Joe, Alessio. Wellman, Bewick, Long... the list goes on) And after Hirdy he is definately next on the list.
May the great man continue to play on until he is at least 40!!!
im going to give Lloyd a mention in here too, simply because his name shouldn't go unsaid in a Essendon Great discussion
