This has always given me the shits... he was always talked up as the greatest, before the question had even finished being asked. I got the feeling that it didn't matter if there were other defenders around, past, present or future, that might have been in the same ilk.hop wrote:WOW!!! What about Steve Silvagni? F.B. of the Century
Also did it all without hanging onto his opponent with both hands!Malky wrote:

Realistically I can only comment on the players I've seen play. In that time he is second only to Hird.robrulz5 wrote:So Jobe Watson says Fletch is probably in the top 5 players to ever play for the club. What does everyone think?
Should have been All Australian at least 6 or 7 other years as well.Windy_Hill wrote:I think you have to seriously rate him in the Top 10 Essendon players of all time and probably one of the Top 5 Full Backs of all time for any club.

Yep im definately with you on that one... I have also been lucky enough to witness some great EFC champs of the modern era during one of the most successful times in our history (Mercs, Smokin Joe, Alessio. Wellman, Bewick, Long... the list goes on) And after Hirdy he is definately next on the list.BomberinJapan wrote:Realistically I can only comment on the players I've seen play.
