17 minutes into the last quarter and we are up by 49 points.

Can never really take much out of these games as they are just scrap matches. However nobody has been injured and all have been given a decent run.
- Hirdy played around 2 and a half quarters and looked in fine form. No sign of rust what so ever.
- Johns looked ok but only played on NLM, who should not play KPP this year
- Lucas was Lucas
- Lonergan really impressed me. Good skills, quick, attacks the ball hard and tackles well
- winderlich needs to learn how to tackle instead of bumping.
- Pev didnt do much, just a couple of turnovers but nothing much.
- Watson handballed far too much, hope he doesnt continue this.
- Michael played the first half but there wasnt really a match up for him
- Hille got better as the game went on
- Davey used his pace well
- Dick looks like a decent player, good skills and good evasive skills too EDIT: Turns out that dean dick is actually Jetta. Stupid f****** commentators.
Overall we played well. I noticed we ran in packs and really ran forward for our teammates but also had players sitting back as well.

Like I said, being this sort of match, all you can hope for is players getting some footy under their belt and no injuries and thats what happened.

Live report - quarter 4
Essendon stretches its lead early in the last quarter thanks to some excellent running from Tom Hislop. The youngster sends Hird towards goal with a wonderful handball and the Bomber champion doesn't miss.

Courtney Johns continues the Bombers' dominance when he is awarded a free kick in the goal square and kicks truly.

Some brilliant hard running from Bachar Houli sees the ball finish with Leroy Jetta who finds Lucas with a perfectly weighted pass. Lucas kicks his fourth.

Another first year Bomber gets into the act! Alwyn Davey shows off his electrifying speed, winning a ball at half forward and kicking an excellent 45m goal on the run.
ESSENDON:
Scott Lucas 4, Courtney Johns 3, James Hird 2, Angus Monfries, Bachar Houli, Leroy Jetta, Angus Monfries, Alwyn Davey
INDIGENOUS ALL STARS:
Andrew Krakouer 2, Andrew McLeod 2, Aaron Davey, Daniel Motlop

Good stuff boys.

Without doubt the worst commentated game I have ever watched.... Makes you appreciate all the shit we have put up with on Commercial TV for the last 20 odd years

Yeh houli is 41 who they were calling chatres, and 40 was jetta not dean dick. I liked the look of both of them tonight. Another good thing was how cleanly lovett was picking the ball up and running through packs. Alwyn davey I think will become that small forward we needed, allowing Lovett to push up on the HFF, Wing/Midfield from time to time to add some explosive pace in the middle.

If we had have lost, most of us will be thinking that it is a long year ahead. It may well be a long painful year ahead, but a win is a win at least.

Please don't blame the ABC for getting the names wrong - The names and numbers were wrong on the official program. I was at the match and it was confussing for everyone. I reckon the ABC team up here is great.

A good win for the dons, and am looking very much to the new season.

Some good signs without a full strength team.

Can someone please tell me who played in the AAS team?

That's not a bad team.

At one stage we had Hille up against Ryder which was a little interesting.

Nat Rat was all at sea against CJ.

It's good to get a win on the board even though it means nothing, confidence for us this year could mean everything.

All stars had no height to speak of and paid for it. They had also apparently only trained once as a unit.

Taking that into account though, the bombers were hard at it and uncompromising, the young guys were all keen to impress.

Ryder has an amazing leap, still struggles to make contact but he will be a lethal ruckman.

Gus Monfries. Didn't get a lot of it, but at one stage he set up a rebound in defense and ran the length of the ground to be i position to recieve a pass on the 50. Has really improved his tank and his in and under skills will be invaluable in the midde.

Mal, didn't do a lot as the opposition lacked a genuine target for him. But just having him there freed up Fletcher and also McPhee to be effective further down the ground. Add NLM to that and we will have an awesome rebounding defence.
