Exactly.

Happens to us all too often. Definitely needs to be investigated by the AFL. Instead of changing stupid rules like push in the back, no mark for kicking backwards, "super" goals and other crud... they should have a look at the things that are quite obviously stupid.

I can't remember which match it was, but a free kick was paid, then one of our players took the ball, played on and goaled, but the umpire brought it back. I cant remember if the outcome was a goal or point, but either way, it just highlights the stupidity of the situation - what is more advantageous than a goal??? Does it really matter who kicks it?

If its about the umpires not putting themselves in a situation where they've directly contributing to the opposition scoring a goal, then maybe they shouldn't pay free kicks inside forward 50 - all too often we give away a free kick inside 50 (rarely do we get any) and it results in a goal.
