Collingwood coach Mick Malthouse was among those this week to suggest scrapping priority picks would eliminate innuendo about teams wanting to lose, although he was adamant no coach would ever throw games.
But AFL chief executive Demetriou said it was pointless for people to keep calling for change, because the league would not be budging.
"We won't be looking at it and hopefully that will stop the debate, but it probably won't, it gets oxygen every week," Demetriou told reporters.
