Great effort going forward then but we're giving away too many frees. Stanton delivered pretty well but McPhee couldn't get down.

CRAP! Should have been a certain goal then and we gacve away a stupid free.

Goodes got Selwood in the head as Selwood was over the ball...the umpire reported him straight away. It didn't look like much and seeing as it's Goodes, he'll probably get off.

Saved by a dropped mark from Roughead but some great defensive work there to wrap up Franklin and win the ball.

Need to convert. Lloyd held without the ball and no free. If Ryder did that to Franklin at the other end it would have been a free iin the goalsquare.

McVeigh delivers to Lucas! Goal? Here's hoping. We need it.

ARGH! That's frustrating. We balls it up in our forward line with overcooking and they run the length hof the ground (under good pressure though) and then Hodge gets open and runs inside 50 and kicks a long goal easily. Noone in the square either.

Great kick from Myers. Flat and direct. Nailed Lucas about 5m out from goal. Cambell Brown is getting smashed by Lucas tonight.

That's fricken annoying! McVeigh should have had a shot at goal instead the kick to Ryder was short and then Hawthorn clear easily. Frustrating. 7 point margin.

Holy crap Franklin just threw Fletcher off him like a rag doll.

Ryder was brilliant further down the ground but noone crumbing but Bateman. The ball gets to Franklin and ... you guessed it. Goal.

Concerned about McPhee's don't argue late in the second, I'm sure that'll be looked at.

We've had our moments of silliness... could certain use to give away a few less push in the back's in the second half. But this is much better footy than we've been playing lately for sure. Wish Froggy was out there!

BR - Campbell hasn't been out there that much of the game, has he?

46 v 59 going into the main break. Smokey going for a goal... and... good boy! 52 vs 59!

Surprised Reimers hasn't been told he can't wear those boots, because they clash.

If we hadn't given away so many frees I dare say we'd be in front right now... that and had Monfries actually taken a mark in the first quarter... he would have had a few handy goals too.

Campbell played most of the 1st quarter and spent probably 15 minutes off the ground in the second, I reckon.

Bateman is KILLING us. Someone needs to take him out. Impressed with Slattery tonight. Taken some very good strong marks and held Rioli pretty well so far.

Who is playing on Bateman? Is it Stanton? If it is, that explains it. Stanton is racking up the possessions but not hurting Hawthorn as much as he could be. On the other hand, when Bateman gets it he runs hard and hits a target... usually Franklin. We need to exploit the Cambell Brown vs Scott Lucas match up. He's killing Brown.

Is anyone else scratching their heads at the umpires?? They have been f****** terrible!!! That free against Lovett in the square should see that umpir sacked

I think the bronx cheers when Ryder got that free on Franklin for holding the ball told the story. The fact they had something like 8 or 9 frees to our 1 up to that point in the quarter brought that about. Hille is being called for a mountain of frees in the ruck contests against Taylor.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that pat on the face from Franklin to Fletch should've been (if sighted) a free kick? That's head high contact.

I'd be the first to cry it down had it been called, but shouldn't it have been?
