Heath Shaw Involved in Drink Driving Accident
Re: Heath Shaw Involved in Drink Driving Accident
You'd think the clubs could make some sort of arrangement with the Taxi companies to give the players a "hotline" that they could ring rather than having to wait for a taxi.
It would make sense from a club point of view in ensuring that their players didn't have to drive and the clubs could pay a premium to the taxi company to ensure the players got picked up ahead of others.
Seems like a win/win situation for all parties concerned.

That's the name of the game though.F111 wrote:It's pretty sad really, that some young blokes go out and have a fill, but aren't able to make the correct decision re: drinking and driving.
In a small way I feel sorry for young blokes unable to cope with the life of a footballer. Superficially, it looks great, a dream. But the adulation, the expectations, the media overwhelmingly present and ready to pounce...and a shed load of money and not quite the brains to prioritise the lot. It happens too often
I'm sure any half-decent footballer can make a reasonable living plying their trade in the SANFL or certain cashed up Victorian grassroots clubs, with none of the attention of playing at the biggest club in the state.
Incidentally, it's not like they were at some obscure surburban bar, they were drinking at the Geebung Hotel, you can't swing a cat around that joint at closing time without hitting a cab driver.swoodley wrote:You'd think the clubs could make some sort of arrangement with the Taxi companies to give the players a "hotline" that they could ring rather than having to wait for a taxi.

It's probably not a bad idea though.

Sounds like a good idea, but these sorts of idiots are likely to hold a knife to the cab driver....swoodley wrote:You'd think the clubs could make some sort of arrangement with the Taxi companies to give the players a "hotline" that they could ring rather than having to wait for a taxi.

Only 90%? I think Lexus may have paid a lot of money to lower those stats.

That club has got form. Didn't Craig "Ned" Kelly and Dennis Banks hijack a bus once upon a time ago?dom_105 wrote:They wouldn't be that stupid BD, you would hope at least.BenDoolan wrote:Sounds like a good idea, but these sorts of idiots are likely to hold a knife to the cab driver....swoodley wrote:You'd think the clubs could make some sort of arrangement with the Taxi companies to give the players a "hotline" that they could ring rather than having to wait for a taxi.

Where there is smoke....Collingwood's Alan Didak in drink-driving Heath Shaw's car

BREAKING NEWS: COLLINGWOOD has confirmed that Alan Didak was in a car with Heath Shaw, who is embroiled in a drink-driving scandal.
Pies star Shaw confirmed he was drinking with trouble-prone teammate Didak before he crashed into parked cars on Saturday night, but had insisted Didak had not been in his black Holden ute when he crashed.
However, the club has since confirmed that Didak was in fact in the car with Shaw when he hit a stationary vehicle in Wrixon St, Hawthorn, before blowing almost three times above the legal limit.
Didak came under close scrutiny last year after he was linked with bikie Christopher Hudson, who pleaded guilty to the CBD shootings that left a lawyer dead.
"The sanction imposed on Heath by the club on Monday was a result of information stated by both Heath and Alan after being repeatedly questioned about the incident," the club said.
"Given the club has now found their information to be false, it strikes at the principles of honesty and integrity that the Collingwood Football Club is built on."
Collingwood said the sanction imposed today will be "immediately reviewed" by the club, adding that a press conference to be held on Tuesday.
Re: Heath Shaw Involved in Drink Driving Accident
I'm gonna enjoy watching this unfold, watching the filth cop a bunch of s**t.... Disgraceful act, filthy dirty rotten players.
Didak will get the sack. If not then Collingwood are even more pathetic than they already are.

Re: Heath Shaw Involved in Drink Driving Accident
Even before the Revelation DOM(well spotted),the words by McGUIRE was HUFF and PUFF as STAGGY noted and mean SWEET f*** ALL unless he actually TOOK ACTION.of which there had been f*** ALL except when a couple of Kids were singled as SCAPEGOATS,rather than for straight discipline.
Of course when a club's STANDARDS are DOUBLE and FULL OF HOLES,any sense of JUST DISCIPLINE was OUT THE WINDOW with a CRASSSSSHHHHHH!!!!!!With all the other Established players getting themselves in the POO but NOTHING HAPPENING,I'll be interested to see what BS SPIN McGUIRE DISHES OUT this time?

This is unadulterated gold ! I'd also bet that the players told the club the truth straight up but the club tried to protect Didak initially by saying he wasn't there when Shaw crashed the car, however, when it became clear that there were witnesses to the accident who saw Didak in the car, the club decided to backpedal.

Re: Heath Shaw Involved in Drink Driving Accident
So the question is,Did McGuire or anyone upstairs give the Cops a FALSE STATEMENT?
If so,what then?
Whatever happens,it's always good to have a Healthy session of LET'S KICK THE SHIT of COLLINGWOOD.
Other club supporters are Invited.Except CARLSCUM fans.We lump that lot in with the FILTH,albeit for different reasons(as noted elsewhere -somebody got the link to that comparison?)!
UTTERLY DESPISED and DETESTED!

Eddie is a smart bloke. I would be very surprised if he didn't know the full story by midday. All it would have taken is a few phone calls to the right people (such as the girl who's car played the supporting act in this very intriguing story).
Re: Heath Shaw Involved in Drink Driving Accident
Good to see that they are seriously trying to rectify their poor form on the field with hard work . Good onya boys you're doing your club and supporters proud. WTF are you celebrating? You are responsible for your club slipping down the ladder at a rapid rate of knots.
Where are you MALTHOUSE? At least other coaches have the balls to front up and crack the whip on wayward boys. You obviously have no control.
Footy Classified is gonna be pumpin' tonight! Oh no Hutchy, no exclusive!

Re: Heath Shaw Involved in Drink Driving Accident
It just shows the vast difference between a club like Essendon, where we suspend Andrew Lovett for missing a training session where as Collingwood wont do squidly about Heath Shaw three times over the limit. they even cleared him to play this weekend. What a joke.
Collingwood will never win a premiership with that sort of shit culture.
