Agree with most of it, but quite how you have Tayte Pears in there ahead of people like David Myers is a bit beyond me.Pazza wrote:Taking the team description with mine:

Re: Your best 22.
I had a crack, i think that WA half back line is our backline of the future. Perhaps Winderlich in the team in front of Myers based on experience. Both Pris and Licha are emerg until they have proven to have recovered from serious injury. Dempsey is a guy who I dunno where he will be... NLM is on the way out...younger and better talent coming through...expect him to be relegated to depth role. Bellchambers is on the radar on Laycocks back...still see him getting better in the twos for at least half a season

*Probably in our best 22, but lets see how he goes in a team that isn't as strong in the middle
others:
Dyson - make or break this year. Breaks the lines well, but cant lay a tackle. Lovett wasa very similar, and has worked hard on it this season, time for Ricky to do it
Dempsey - built like a piece of chalk as Jimmyc once said. When he plays more than 5 games in a row, then best 22. Probably be his last year too if he cant stay fit.
Daniher - First year, injured
NLM - I have said enough on him. Handy depth player at best
Bellchambers - Very very very raw. Showed that he can possibly make it, but needs at least 2 more years. Got no idea where to run (as expected when you are thrown in)
Atkinson - Didn't like him at first, but really did well before being "injured"
Winderlich - injured more often than not
Magin - Looked ok, but the guy weighs about as much as my lunch box
Gumbleton - see Dempsey.

Re: Your best 22.
Different types of players. Pears is going to be our likely full-back heading down the track. As such, him playing the 3rd fenuine tall defender will help us out and help him develop to take over from Fletcher for 2010.Ossie wrote:Agree with most of it, but quite how you have Tayte Pears in there ahead of people like David Myers is a bit beyond me.Pazza wrote:Taking the team description with mine:

Myers is competing with the midfield - notice I how don't have Houli there for the same reason? Prismall's arrival eases the pressure off both Myers and Houli, so they can develop and get themselves ready for a bigger crack at it down the track, certainly as McVeigh ages and if Lovett and/or Winderlich depart at the end of next year.

I agree with Pazza re Myers/Houli v Pears.
I'm busting to get Dempsey in, but common sense says not yet best 22.

Aaron Francis is the Messiah.
Re: Your best 22.
I would say Myers is more of a half back and may well end up more in the mould of Luke Hodge. Can see him pushing into midfield at times but I really think his frame is suited to that half back role.Pazza wrote:Different types of players. Houli I think is ready. What he showed in the first half dozen games of this year says to me he will play 15+ games next year as long as he stays fit. He had a bit of class about him and I think he's already ahead of the likes of Winderlich and Dempsey.

Re: Your best 22.
Not at all! I think Nash is a super player and I've stuck up for him on here on plenty of occasions. Great foot skills and a good football brain. And to be honest if I was building that team of 22 on what would be our best team rather than on the player ratings that started this thread he'd probably be in (move McPhee to the forward flank, Nash in, probably Winderlich squeezed out).tom9779 wrote:No Nash eh? ya really don't rate him.
Nash is still a good player... he's somewhere between 23-25 on my list. Gumby would also have to be squeezed out of my team by Laycock or TBell for balance if I wasn't looking at best 22 in order.

poor hilley wood be rucking his arse off in that team..Filthy wrote:Based on sheer talent only. Forget about positions. In no particular order.

I feel either Lazy needs to grow a pair or we find a new ruckman, plus we need a Hurley in the Draft to stiffen up the back but there are a lot of guys not in that 22 nipping at its edges and are capable of getting in it if they take another step. Still a very talented 22.
Thoughts?
and hurley is a star i hope we get him as well
