We need to poach a talent scout. I think our drafting over the last couple of years has been OK. But Brisbane and Port has been much better. Let's get one of these guys.

probably some others that I am too ashamed about.

Good Ole Dancin' Darren Walsh, I rated him too, after his first game, I thought we found a gem. A year later he had been delisted and couldn't crack a senior game in the EDFL.

Mark Harvey labelled him the next Peter Matera.

James Hird once said Tom Hislop would play 200 games for our club.

Can't remember who at the club also branded Paul Thomas "the next big thing".

I remember that too! Was in 2007, after one of Hislop early games (maybe even debut?) when Hird was interviewed after a BOG performance.

And I remember Kevin Sheedy saying that Daniel McAlister was the next "Wanganeen". Even gave him his number and re-drafted him about 15 times over the years in hope of fulfilling his prophecy....

Paul Thomas was unlucky to get cut when he did though i thought... he had a pretty handy first season at the club then Sheeds went and delisted him.

this might get added to this thread later on but i think Hislop might be a player that blossoms many years into a career, be interesting how long Richmond persist with him

I think a few of us were a bit guilty of that one too Rob.

I have a laugh at some of my own previous 'predictions' on certain players. I used to crap on about Jay Neagle, Jay Nash, Lovett, Gumbleton, Prismall....
Yeah, I thought Prismall was a great pick up on your advice.

Lovett could have been anything if he wasn't such a lazy idiot.

I could have told you he would amount to nothing. Only bit of inside information I've ever got on a player.
