Even though we lost this game, it was marvellous to know that we ended up beating those pricks 3 weeks later.

Watch out for Greg Williams giving away a 100 metre penalty - only to see Michael Symons (Symonds to BomberDonnie) miss an absolute soda.

If my memory serves me correctly we were missing a couple of key players including Mark Harvey from this game (which was also from memory the first night final?). The feeling after the game was one of quite confidence that we would get them next time with those key players coming back

I can only imagine, I didn't attend my first Essendon game until round 20 1995!

I was up in the 3rd deck of the Great Southern Stand. I had a row of Adelaide supporters in front of me. They were literally "crowing" at half time - laughing, high fiving, joking around, talking about spending the week in Melbourne and going to the Grand Final etc. I said to one bloke "you guys better hope ya's don't f*** it up from here". His response was something like "not a chance in hell". I must admit, I thought we were totally rat shit myself.

So you can imagine how I was carrying on during our comeback. After the siren, I asked them which hotel they were going to stay for the week....

This game is like a drunken pash with the hottest piece of tail in the club that precedes the point of the night where she throws up all over your shirt and pants.

Just watching it no I can see where it all fell apart, Hardwick and Mercuri have went off injured and Hird isn't looking right. It's only the 1st quarter!

In a home & away game it would have been a courageous victory but I guess we all see it as a game that cost us a Premiership.

Hird and Mercuri were rooted going into the game, they were both injured and playing on one leg. Sheedy took a punt figuring that even on one leg they could provide more to the team than someone else, they couldn't, they were both about as useful as a fishnet condom.

Still shits me the ridiculous and mythological Brad Scott's performance on Hird has become amongst Brisbane supporters and dickhead commentators. They make it sound like Brad Scott was David and he slayed the mighty Goliath, Hird.

Bullshit, sure he did a great job on Hird, but Hird was f*****, a fully fit Hird would have ripped the shit out of that plodder.

feck I wish I'd known that replay was on. It's the only game where I've felt physically ill and had to lie down afterwards. Still don't know how we managed to hold on.

Just watched that game now. I hadn't seen it since that day. Sheesh, we were lucky. We scored 3 of the first 4 goals from free kicks. One decision was changed from "touched" on the line to a goal to Scott Lucas (seriously, how the f*** was that overruled?) and the kick from Croad scraped the post. Looking back, I reckon we lost the Grand Final that day. Mercuri and Hird were obviously cactus - and shouldn't have played the following week. Not sure what was wrong with Longy - but he was hardly used on the ground in that Prelim - but no sign of injury. Does anyone remember what the issue with Long was? I know he announced his returement at training during Grand Final week....
