Which Top midfielder is available.

Post by Bomber_wiz »

I keep reading that we need a top midfielder, where the hell are we going to get one and what do we need to trade to get him.
Please dont give me the abundance of fringe players we have on the list. NO ONE is going to trade a gun for 3 fringe players.

wow doesnt seem that long ago that he was the talk of the comp and won the rising star award.... surely the Dockers wouldnt let him go....

Ryan Griffin is the biggest name still available. If we get Choco Williams as coach I would imagine Steve Salopek would come into the picture as well...

There is only one decent midfielder available and even then he will either re-sign with the cats or resign from the cats and go to GC...all the rest are wannabe's

Griffin.

Rischitelli is supposed to be off to the Gold Coast.

Also I still think we should go for Rich. The more I read about Brisbane, the shitter their situation sounds. Encourage him to see it that way too.

Well, you can draw a line through Griffin. :(

big trades hardly ever happen.

what will happen is that we will or should pick the best available midfielder with pick 8.

i'm hoping we find some mature aged rookie gold. might already have that with a few of the guys we picked up this year.

if we want oldies, plenty of lions out of contract and still unsigned. black, power, rischitelli, brennan....f*** basically their entire engine room.

i would be very happy if we got another mid with the same potential as melksham in the next draft, that would be great.

EDIT: David Mundy wants to go to Melbourne, so we should trade to make it happen.

Word is he will be an AA selection this year ... though I didn't think his stats warranted it.

Freo is keen to get him to sign - but he has put it off until after the finals.

The Pav package is a biggie and may constrain Freo's bargaining power (though Im not sure about the impact of Pav potentially going onto the veterans list).

Could be interesting

Mundy - top possie getter for freo last night. 30 touches 87% disposal efficiency.

Also, question: If Mundy decided to come to Essendon and we were to trade for him, would it be worthwhile getting Palmer as well? Yes, he hasn't got great skills, but he is still young and very hard at it. He's been on the outer with them this year, surely he'd be worth a look.

Would rather take a punt on Mundy and risk wasting 650K than doing nothing in trade week and distributing that money over existing player salaries

I would rather not waste 650k and only give it some of the kids that showed some promise for the future (i.e. Howlett, Colyer, Marigliani, Hardingham, etc...)

We must have a shitload of cash in the coffers ATM and i think Mundy would be a very good risk. Big front ended contract to see how he goes.
