Talk about everything Essendon. Past, Present and Future if it's about the Bombers this is the place to be.

Ruckmen

Post by Mrs Mercuri »

Dodoro has stated that the club will definately be drafting a young ruckman in the draft at some stage....

Anyone got any names that perhaps we should look out for??

Im still hoping that Brodie Smith becomes a new Bomber mid at #8!!

Pick 8 = Ruckman.

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/t ... 5931154357
Essendon recruiting boss Adrian Dodoro, in Canberra for the AFL draft camp, said Hird's appointment had excited potential draftees.

"The buzz among the group has been amazing," he said.

Dodoro said the Bombers would use their first pick (No. 8 ) on a tall to shore up their ruck stocks

Dodoro should speak to his new boss, because Hird clearly said during his presser yesterday that his focus was on quality young midfielders.

Besides in terms of ruckman we should have Joe Daniher coming our way in the 2012 draft under the F/S rule. Unless he is a KPP although he was playing U16s this year and I saw him being listed at 198cm.

perhaps he is just trying to scare gold coast, richmond, westcoast into taking a ruckman with their first picks.

i mean if you had to wait until pick 8 to get your preferred player, you wouldnt exactly be telling the world who that preferred player is.

Dodoro is smarter than that.

Quality rucks thin on the ground at the draft camp. The best will be drafted by GFC (already with them).

Hille, Ryder and Belly are our three. Laycock I thought had retired. Big question mark over Bock re whether he is worth perservering with ... but not a first round draft pick. Hooker has played as a backup ... etc etc

Should we snare Joe Daniher next year - would not need to worry re talls.

So select the best available midfielder with pick 8.

This is probably based on Dodoro suggesting we will get a ruckmen.

But afl.com.au has us with Gorringe at pick 8 in their first guess at the top 25.

and finally Keven Sheehan rates him pretty highly.

FWIW I just hope efc gets best available with pick 8. If thats a ruckman then so be it.

We need to draft a player thats ready for seniors next year. Im sick of us getting players that can't have an impact straight away, that need to nulk up in gym considerably. I dont think I want to see Gorringe in a Red & Black jumper next year. Sounds like he is very talented but at 198cms and only 85kgs, has alot of time in the gym. I'd rather take a gamble on Campbell, and get a mid that can step straight in and help out the midfield.

Trade for an established 25+ yrs Ruckmen (after all thats when they actually start to play well)

Draft an elite 18 yrs midfielder

From the Adel Advertiser on Sat.... (posted on Big Footy)

'Bombers make play for Gorringe'- Michaelangelo Rucci

'Essendon has upset the running order for next months AFL national draft by yesterday making a major sales pitch to Norwood ruckman Daniel Gorringe rather than a midfielder. Gorringe, considered the fourth best draft candidate in the years draft pool, yesterday met Bombers recruiting manager Adrian Dodoro and senior recruiting co-ordinator Merv Keane at Glenelg while ruckmen dominated the news in AFL's trade week.

Essendons keen interest in Gorringe, 18, contradicts the pre-draft speculation that the bombers would use their pick 8 on a midfielder such as Woodville West Torrens candidate Jared Polec.

'Well draft the best player at no.8' said Dodoro last night. 'That could be the best ruckman or the best midfielder. And Daniel is in strong consideration'.

Hmmm ... Dorito talks to someone and the world is turned on its head. However, thought Gorringe was tied to GFC.

May be talented - but do we need another raw underweight SA ruckman?
