The Hird effect...

Talk about everything Essendon. Past, Present and Future if it's about the Bombers this is the place to be.

Our first pick on a young ruckman? The club must be supremely confident that our current burgeoning midfielders will get the job done in future years. I'm not sure I share that confidence but happy to defer my decision until the end of next year.

Wouldn't it be marvelous if the affect follows that of two previous favorite sons Reynolds and Coleman who both had flags after two years.
Wishful thinking perhaps-but.

Hey The Hird effect...

Hey Dodoro, think you need a chat to your new coach, he clearly indicated yesterday his focus was on young midfielders.

We hopefully should have Joe Daniher headiing our way in the 2012 draft as long as GWS doesn't convince him to sign up as a 17 year old, or he doesn't decide that for some reason he wants to live in a shithole of a city like Sydney.

I also like the fact that he said one of the first things he did after being announced as coach was to ring all the uncontracted players, can just imagine how they went:

'Hi Brent, James Hird here, you know how for some strange reason I deemed you worthy of my number 5 jumper, just wondering why you haven't signed your new contract yet?'
'Um.....just looking for a pen Jimmy.'

I reckon Hird as coach will have a very big effect in all sorts of ways.

(BTW affect is a verb, effect normally a noun unless you mean to effect a plan)

Seems like the EFC is the place to be in 2011... :D

I hope that we dont use #8 on a ruckman... we need qualty young midfielders. Young ruckmen take years to develop and surely we could pick one up at #30?

Please please can we get Brodie Smith... from all reports he is going to be a gun! 8)

Players should be clambering at our door to play for us.

It's not every day you get someone like James Hird as your coach. So glad Fletch stayed on for another year to work alongside his old mate.

For the first time in years, I feel like Essendon is an exciting club, somewhere people want to be, a contender.

But I MIGHT be biased.
