Caro Wilthon in good form

Talk about everything Essendon. Past, Present and Future if it's about the Bombers this is the place to be.

Expect a lot more articles like this by Caroline. Now that her source has been removed, she will resume her previous position of sinking the boots in.

Evans, Robson and Hird have plugged the leaks off-field that was beginning to look like our backline, and now this slag is upset. Maybe she will have to work hard to get a scoop?

Thompson has not signed, and wont sign until January. However, there will be some sort of "gentlemens agreement" at the moment.

I am baffled by this quote
Pathetic Slag wrote: Thompson has denied several times to Cook and outgoing president Frank Costa that he was headed for Essendon. He also stated upon quitting Geelong last week that he had no idea what he would be doing next season. Which means he will have ultimately misled either Geelong or Essendon.
He has no idea what he is doing next season, and probably wont until January 2011. Can't he take a few weeks to make up his mind?

As I have said elsewhere, and as was posted by Filthy regarding David Evans at JD - DAVID EVANS GETS HIS MAN

Why on earth she continues to point the finger at Bomber and alike is beyond me. The AFL have created this situation. She needs to take a real hard look at the ethics that have been created by the AFL in the name of "Growing the game".
What does loyalty have to do with anything today if you allow the likes of the GC Suns to be able to pick and pay what they like for the sake of ultimately lining the pockets of the AFL chiefs.
Unless I am mistaken this is a business and all businesses will do ( should do ) what they have to so that they can be successful.
You're out of touch Caro!
It just fell out of the sky

So it's expected / accepted that clubs can terminate a coach whenever they feel like it (mid contract and all), yet when a coach has just had enough of being at the club and decides to leave mid contract - it becomes immoral?

Yep, righto.....gotchya.

This is how the Bomber Thompson story should have played out

Geelong Hail Most Successful Coach

AAP - Geelong CEO Brian Cook publicly thanked outgoing coach Mark Thompson for his unprecedented contribution to the Geelong Football Club at a media conference held earlier today.

"Mark's time at Geelong will always be fondly remembered by members, fans and players alike. In his 11 years as coach he brought to the club a period of success unprecedented in its history. Mark has remained a humble and non assuming individual throughout this time and we are forever grateful for his dedication and committment. Whilst we are disappointed to lose Mark with a year remaining on his contract, we fully respect his wishes to seek a reduced work load and a less stressful role, whether that is in football or outside of football. Wherever Mark goes, he knows that his Cat family will miss him, but naturally wishes him the best success."

It is widely believed that Thompson will make a sentimental return to his original football home at Windy Hill to join his good friend James Hird in a mentoring type role. This would appear to be the perfect solution for Thompson as he seeks to move away from the daily pressures of a head coaching role. It also allows Thompson to bookend his career with a position at the club where he played more than 200 games for and captained to the 1993 Premiership.

When asked whether he would object to Thompson moving to a role at Essendon, Cook said, "Look, we would love to have Mark as our Head Coach, but frankly, Mark has indicated that he no longer feels the desire to fulfill this role. We are indebted to him for having the honesty to put the club first and not continuing in a role where his heart was no longer in it. If Mark chooses to take a job at Essendon, we also fully acknowledge that there is a strong link to the Bombers and if they can provide him with a the type of work he is seeking then so be it. We understand that Mark will not take on a head coach position and as such, wish him the very best in whatever role he does take on. As a Two Time Premeiship Coaah at Geelong, he will always have our gratitide and support"

If Thompson does join Hird at Essendon, this also opens the door for a full review of coaching roles at Geelong where Ken Hinkly is widely tiped to be appointed as Head Coach. This could not come at a better time for the Cats as they look to re-resh their on and off field staff during what is likely to be a period of transition. For once in football, this would appear to be the classic "win-win" outcome for both Essendon and Geelong

Haha...now that is one big slap in the face to Carloine Wilson!

Cook said what needed to be said about Bomber. You cannot fault the tribute and respect shown there - even though he is absolutely gutted that he is no longer with the club.

And it is obvious that Bomber is coming on board when you read Cook's comments.

I did like the idea of slapping Caroline WIlson in the face though.

Summed up very nicely Windy, although I do think that while it's a shame the whole thing got a bit messy it's still fantastic we've made their administration look like total hacks after the whole football world has sung their praises for years.

Interestingly though Benny, your initial comments reflect how well this whole saga could have played out if only Geelong had adopted the type of "tone" that I used in my mock report. I am afraid the Geelong are the ones who are coming across like spoilt children - Bomber must be fuming at the way they are treating him

I'm not being a "grumble bum" Filth, I just wonder how you have gone from starting threads called "Spot On Caro" to calling her a "dishlicker", and attacking her credibility all in the space of a month?

She is obviously upset that Bev is now gone and reading between the lines (or just generalising) maybe Evans knew she was the leak and where it was going and was forced out?

Perhaps with her source gone Wilson feels free to put an altogether different spin on things with no one to keep onside any more.

Hmmm ... Caro

Could you provide an explaination why you haven't:

(1) reported on why RFC have such a strong pull on Houlii despite Hirdy making strong representations that he is a required player at EFC
(2) bucketed Roos for breaking his commitment that he wouldn't assist any other club that the Swans ... but he will for the cats
(3) slagged off on Voss for the alleged poor culture created through his recruitment strategy... and
(4) bothered to interview Hirdy or Evans about whats going on.

All I can say is thank Huhey that you weren't reporting on Barassi moving from Melb to Carl/North/Syd ... and what a pity you haven't bothered to report as to why the comb-over still won't enage with the RFC despite having some pull there...
