KPP

I remember having this very conversation about this time last year, or maybe even for the last several years...haha. With an abundance of KPP where are they going to play. Bits of the puzzle are falling together, but a bit is yet to be decided.

Gumby - Seems to be a roaming CHF, from 50m arc to Wing
Hurley - Forward or Back? Where does everyone think his best position is...
Ryder - Forward, Back or Ruck? What you think is his best position...
Carlisle - Am i mistaken to think he is a similar player to Gumby? Kind of roaming CHF...
Neagle - Well I think his best position is Centre Half BENCH! Tried and seems to have failed. Needs a helluva Preseason to prove what he hasnt proved in how many years?
Daniher - Could he be the new FF, seen as SOM failed? Thats if his body holds up...Has looked promising in very little time he has had on field.
Still - Dont know one thing about him! Obviously had potential to get drafted at 17. Is he in our future plans?
Hardingham - Could be the X-Factor if he kicks straight, but where does he line up?

Then we have:

Pears - Looks great when he plays his natural game and attacks. But will he be playing FB when he returns?
Hooker - Mentioned in trade rumours. Great endeavour but has brain farts...FB, CHB, HBF?

So pretty much, how does everyone see the Forward Line and Backline looking....Thoughts?

Gumby - CHF
Hurley - CHB
Ryder - FF/ rotating CHF/ Ruck
Carlisle - More game time in 2's/ FF
Neagle - Bendigo reserves bench
Daniher - Doesn't deserve a game yet, so more time at QEO..
Still - More time in the 2's
Hardingham - Forward pocket/ flank
Pears - FB
Hooker - Utility (bit like McFlea used to be)

Ha  =D>

You guys forget about a bloke by the name of Fletch?

He doesnt need to be mentioned. He could rock up in thongs and still get a game! He can play FF if he wants to :D

Was kind of just mentioning the younger players. Fletch doesnt need a position, doesnt need a role, just has to do what he has done his whole career!

Backline is set.

Hurley- FB
Hooker- CHB
Pears- Wellmanistic, can play as a key back if the match up suits, can play third man up, can play as an attacking HBF, can play on a small if required.
Fletcher- he can do whatever he wants.

Forwardline needs some work at development.

Like Hardingham up there playing a Russell Roberston style. Can take a massive leap, brings some X-Factor to the forward line, puts good defensive pressure on, can lay a tackle, goal kicking needs work. Kicking in general is concerning, but I would prefer it in the forwardline than coming off the HBF.

CHF- Gumbleton, simply does not have the body for one-one contests at the moment. Have him roam up the ground, but not as far as he did this year. Needs to stay somewhat closer to goals so he can have more of an impact on contests. Needs to use his fitness and aerobic capacity in a similar fashion to Riewoldt, lead up, lead back, lead up use his superior fitness to lose his man. Goalkicking also needs work.

Full forward- this is the concern.

Neagle simply isn't fit enough, and for about the last 3-4 years everyone has said he needs to be fully committed and determined to get his fitness levels up so he can have an impact on the field. Sure he has had injuries and hasn't had an uninterupted pre-season yet, but those are nothing more than an excuse after this length of time.

Surely this has been raised with him every year, and yet he has not shown any commitment, determination or even desire to do something, f****** anything to improve the situation.

Has talent, but simply does not seem to give a stuff about getting his body in shape to allow him to make the most of that talent. Would not surprise me if we delisted him, he's had enough to show some indication that he gives a shit and he hasn't.

Carslie- Looks like the kid can clunk a good mark, don't know if in the long term he is a FF, CHF, but he will not be either next year. Could see him as a third tall forward, but does not have the body yet to Key Position

Still- even less developed than Carslie. Will not see much if any senior action next year, not suprising for a bottom aged draftee. Will be about 2 years before he is pushing for regular senior games.

Daniher- lots of injury problems. Not sure if he is either particularly fast on the lead, or a particularly good contested mark. Need at least one to play FF. Will be given a shot, somewhere next year, assuming his body holds up.

Williams- big question marks over his body and his attitude. Really did not seem at all interested this year, was it due to playing injured or was it due to him not giving a shit and being happy to sit back doing f*** all in the ressies collecting his cash.

Ryder- Like him being used as a Key Forward, but that will depend on Bellchambers ability to step up and play 2nd ruck, and what Hird sees him as. Problem is again he seems more like a natural CHF than a FF.

Full forward is our big question mark for next year.

With only 3 interchange players allowed now, I don;t think we can afford to have Hille, Ryder and Bellchambers in the team, unless Ryder goes to the backline and doesn;t play ruck at all.

I like Ryder starting in the forward line and swapping with Hille in the ruck. With only 3 interchanges, we could use those 2 and Gumby as the only tall forwards and still have plenty of run in the team. Maybe if Williams pulls the finger out we could have another FF option, but not be too top heavy.
