Meaningless, Meaningless, Meaningless!

But I love a bit of a historical coincidence and a wishful indication of what it means.

In 1993 we drew with Carlton. The following week we lost to Collingwood by exactly 30 points . . .

The week after the 30 point loss to Collingwood in 1993 which was after the draw to Carlton we beat an interstate side (Sydney) by 90 odd points. We are playing the Suns next week.

And a young champion with his first name starting with D debuted in 1993.

As is happening this year too.

1993:

Bomber Thompson was captain, and now he's back...

Wanga wore #4 and won a brownlow with it... Could this be Jobe's year? :D

Who were the favourites that year? I was only 12 and can't remember details!!!

From memory we were 1 win and a draw from the first 4 games that year - we then got on a roll affter murdering Sydney in Rnd 5 (forcing Gary Buckenara to be sacked - replaced by Ron Barassi) - big difference in 93 was that there was no dominant team - I think we finished on top of the ladder with only 13 wins and a draw (only 20 games played that season H&A) - The Final 6 had 1 and a half wins separating 1st and 6th!

We played in the first night final that year - was at the MCG to watch Carlton just beat us in the second semi - we were missing a few players from memory including Mark Harvey who was an AA CHB that year. So there was always the feeling that if we could get throught the Preliminary Final, we could really take it up to Carlton - and get through the Prelim we did famously thanks to Michael Long and Darren Bewick taking the Crows apart in a huge come from behind win.

A week later - The Baby Bombers did the business. Sean Denham completely mauling Greg Williams, Dean Wallis puting Mil Hanna out of his misery, Rick Olarenshaw coming out in the first qtr like a man possesed, Dean Calthorpe splitting the pack and drilling a 50M goal out of the centre clearance, Joe Misiti banging a huge goal from outside 50m on the outer boundary and of course Michael Long's glorious afternoon in the sun at the MCG

Jesus,it,s getting better by the post.

That whole season they were getting better by the week and played an exciting and daring style of footy with gung ho young blokes taking risks.

We seem to have a few now.

Any statistical nut got any more "coincidences"?
