Essendon v Hawthorn Match Thread

Post by paddyl90 »

Friday Night Lights again and a huge game with arguably our biggest rival! Get there if you can! Don't drop off cause we aren't winning of late! If you have no reasonable excuse to not be there...then go!

I love these games so much, regardless of how we are performing in the lead up to it. These games bring out the best in both teams! Last year's match was a classic, with 2 Buddy Franklin rippers the difference really during the tug and war last quarter. Tonight, there's no Franklin or Roughead so that will help. If we can just play to a reasonably high, consistent standard over the 4 quarters then there's no reason why we can't get over the line. I just have this feeling we will tonight, I know I've said this every week and I might be wrong again, but anything happen tonight. Thinking Hurley could have a big game down forward. Key areas for me will be the midfield battle, we got smashed last week out of the middle throughout most of the game. It would be nice if we could not give teams head starts as our late comebacks have always fallen short!

I tipped Essendon with no confidence at all but lets hope so!

I think "we're playing shit and I can't be f*****" is a reasonably excuse, but I'll still be there.

Rubbish, no excuse for not turning up. You turn up when they are playing well, so you gotta turn up when they are playing shit. I'll be going despite my hatred of the selections. Club is bigger.

Anyway, we'll win tonight. Bookmark it

Can't get there (or more to the point - not physically able to get there ... bugger!)

Key for us is the amount of protection (ie blocking and shepparding) given to Jobe to make best use of our ruck advantage at clearances, and getting those who are kicking into the 50 to take a few milliseconds to kick to a contest or lead and not just bomb... thewe two things happen - we should win.

Pessimism aside - this is winnable. Although we don't have the cattle at the moment, Hird/Thompson etc should be able to outcoach "one trick" Clarkson.

Hope that the team is as indefatigable as some of the posters in here

Hirdy names Hawthorn as the team he hates the most - so it could be interesting, if he can fire them up.

Know what else is same as last week? Maggots are f****** c****.

Commetti and Matthews just said how good Gibson has been. Richo said he's been ok but he really has only slapped Ryders arms thus far. ISN'T THAT A FREE KICK.

HOW THE f*** IS HALE DOMINATING?

Lets keep playing a loose man in defence. Of course if you could tell me who it is it'd be nice.

Hodge on his knees just out raced Myers and Howlett to the ball.

I'd give my left nut for a bloke with half his passion to wear our jumper at the moment.

Suckling just runs past allowed all the time in the world and kicks a goal. The ball passed Welsh's ear and he couldn't be f***** putting his arms up in the original contest.
