i don't know about you guys, but I am sick of the focus on gambling in our great game. it gives me the shits.

you used to get great analysis in sports in Australia. now all commentators talk about is the f***** odds.

i'm not against gambling persay, but f***, i wish it wasn't in our face all the f***** time.
i don't give a rats about some guy blowing a million dollars. its also the TAB making a million as well.

I knew my multi was gone at qtr time (had us to lose at the line) . However the feeling of watching us play hard and well for the first time in 6 weeks was better than getting that leg in.

It astounds me that someone can put so much money on a game in which anything can happen.

Couldn't agree more. More than happy for it to go on and I have a dabble myself, but it's beyond a joke now. It cheapens the game.

I read somewhere (sorry cannot remember where so I can cite the source), that although Kerry Packer would bet recklessely on cards and the ponies where he was directly involved, he would play the safe sports bets and drop a mill or two on "certs" where the return was 1-5 cents in the dollar.

Maybe he had to justify himself to the family...

Don't be so naive everybody...I don't think anybody bet 1 million on this game; just a clever ploy to advertise betting during the footy. Easy for somebody from a sports agency to conveniently leak the fact that somebody apparently bet 1 million dollars on this game.
