A win against the Pies

would it be bigger than our upset win over the Cats?

But as for your question, it would be as big as when Fitzroy beat West Coast in the last round of 1991. Nothing as outrageous has happened since.

Think we used up the "OMG WTF" moment in the Geelong game.

Okay lets put the most positive spin case that can be found for us to win ;

1) They played the Gold Coast - a big win under little pressure can be fool's gold
2) Players back - we will have Watson back surely and Fletcher possibly Hibberd - even without Hocking those three make a big difference
3) ANZAC day form - we had a shocking start but managed to be very competitive for a lot of that game. They only really pulled away in the end.
4) Desperation - the gut wrenching loss to our other nemesis will surely lift them to a more passionate effort
5) NO Pressure on Us against highly fancied opponent - -we have often come up when we are playing in these circumstances

But we had close to a full team as well (though we lost 3 players during the game)

I give us no chance, even if Flecth Hibbo and Watson come in.

My view of it is that we will lose, but it will be the manner of the losing interests me.

Some character, some spine and some passion please

bit worried about a few things.

watson being underdone and having a matchup for cloke with pears out.

its not out of the realms of impossibility, no game is. But it would take a brave fan to tip us.

the players will be set for this one, nothing like taking on the best side in the comp. look at the sides attitude against the cats.

I'll give Hirdy one thing (well more actually but this interests me the most). It seems as though it has been one quarter per match that has smashed us in most of our losses.
Against Richmond and Melbourne, 15minute mark of the last quarter we were still in it (within a goal or two) despite our pathetic 3rd quarters.
Collingwood was the first quarter
Carlton 3rd quarter

Hawthorn and Freo were shocking and the opposition took their foot off the gas.

Hird has also played alot of the kids when given the chance (Hibbo, Hep, Colyer, TBell) and is giving most of them extended time as well as giving extended time to players on the fringe (Dyson, Pris, Davey) to see their true worth.

Point is, most of our games, we have shown some character and some spine. Though against Carlton, when you don't have your "spine" from the start you will struggle.

I was thinking about his the other day, and it has been the same ever since he retired as a player. You know why? When we got into trouble in years past, he would put his Superman costume on, and bail us out of the shit. So many games he either won for us, or kept us in it, with a turn in the middle to swing the momentum. We dont have anyone that does it anymore...well Watto and Hille have both done it once or twice, but no where near what Hird used to do. Is it an issue of talent or leadersghip though? I understand that not everyone can be Hird.

I think it's the same with Carlton and Judd. Judd is a champion and can change a game or hold the other teams momentum like not many others can.

I don't think Collingwood have one, but they play so well as a team that they don't need one.

Hird and Judd were able to drag their teams over the line by doing things most players can only dream of doing. There aren't many teams that have that sort of player.

you gave us a chance after the hawthorn debacle, coming up against an unbeaten Geelong?

I didn't think we had it in us then.

the boys have an 8 day break and will be fresh. time to reload and hopefully put in a good performance.

Yeah, gave us the slightest sniff for the Geelong game. Etithad, coming off a belting. No Selwood for Geelong.... No hope this week.

Reckon this might be the least of our worries Jazz.
