FINALS

We very likely will be IN the finals next Sunday before the ball has bounced at Etihad.

Collingwood beat Fremantle in Perth Friday night.

St Kilda beat North Melbourne at Etihad Saturday night.

We're already 6pts ahead of them so if the above occurs we won't even have to beat Port to make it.

IF this is the case we might see Hurley, Fletch, Jobe as late withdrawals from the team next week.

St Kilda do us the favour and win tomorrow and we'd have 7th signed, sealed and delivered.

Did Fletch play today?

If not that is an awesome idea to ensure our best forward (Hurley) and best backman (Fletcher) have not played a game for 3 weeks going into an elimination final.

While we are at it, maybe Knights was on to something and we should rest Hille, Ryder and Bellchambers for the first final as well, so they are nice a fresh if we make it through to week 2 of the finals.

FFS!!

You idiot.

Yes Fletcher played today and was clearly hampered by injury late in the game. If we've sewn up a finals spot BEFORE we even take on Port there is NO NEED to risk him if we want him fully fit for our FIRST FINAL IN MELBOURNE since 2004. It would be just our luck we play him and then he fully pings a hammy or tears a calf and we lose him for a month.

As for Hurley he could easily miss three weeks in a row and come up better for it. His foot is in a very precarious state atm again RISKING HIM FOR NO POINT (when finals are sewn up against PORT of all teams) is STUPID considering Hirdy has said himself there is a chance his hot spot could snap and we've lost him not only for a FINAL but a large chunk if not ALL of the presason.

If we're 7th or even 8th no matter what the result of Port we can afford to leave those guys out and still get a win.

Oh, FFS.

We need to beat Port by 100 plus and we want Sydney to lose about at least 10 goals to Geelong. That ensures a Ess V Syd final in Melboune - perhaps at our home ground Etihad.

Again, Sydney have Brisbane (in Sydney) next week. They could belt them. Plus, the Saints would have to lose twice. Little or no chance.

Anythings possible. It'll be fascinating watching it unfold.

it is more likely that Sydney will maintain a superior percentage to us. I think it comes down to StKilda.
They win 1 or 2 games and they will push us down to 8th.(better percentage or more premiership points take your pick).

They lose both games and we will go ahead of them into 7th on premiership points.(swans also go up to 6th assuming they beat either brisbane or geelong) 7th would then be a poisoned chalice as it would mean a trip to Sydney. 8th would then be up for grabs amongst saints/north and fremantle.

Personally I think Stkilda will win one more game, this will deny both Sydney a home final and relegate us to a final against the Scum. The aints get their weekends revenge with an Etihad final against the Swans.
