Changes for final v Scum

In: Hocking, Fletcher, Lonergan.

Out: Hooker, Welsh, Reimers.

Injuries mean we are going to have to carry a couple of passengers. Depending on match ups and conditions either NLM or McVeigh to sub. If it is going to be wet, Reimers may get a reprieve, and Carlisle will probably miss out.

Agree on the outs ,,, but think its an early call on Lonergan to come in ... would think that Dyson would have a better chance ...

Geez we have missed Fletch tonight.... amazing how the old man is still able to keep our defence together.

Fletch and Hocking straight back in
Hooker and Welsh out

Cannot drop Reimers with Crameri not playing. We won't kick a winning score without him. With him (the 'good Reimers') we are at least some chance...

Yep, I'd have Dyson over Lonergan in any event. The game will be a fast, open affair and we need blokes who can kick well and run. We've already got Watson, Hocking and Howlett for inside mids. I'm not sure who Dyson would come in for though.

INS: Hocking Fletcher

OUTS: Hooker Welsh

Almost no chance that Lonergan will play in the Essendon side again this year.

Yep.

NLM as sub. We know for a fact NLM is not going to impact the game, Colyer at least might.

I am not entirely convinced Welsh will be dropped. We have been trying to get him to be the defending forward against the lynch pin half back. This was exemplified in the Geelong game in his game on Scarlett. Unfortunately injuries and concussion have set back these plans. He might be set a job like the one I am talking about against Carlton. Its a pity for him he had very little impact tonight.

Obviously Fletcher and Hocking will come in but who will go out - Hooker has to in my mind but who else ?

This for me too.

Doesn't "the good Reimers" usually turn up against Carlton?

Welsh is an interesting one. At one point in the game last night, I started watching him carefully and wondering what on earth his function/role was supposed to be. He stayed on the forward line the whole time, so he wasn't tagging (which he can do - maybe an option against Judd in the finals?). He didn't really lay many tackles, so I don't think he was supposed to be the defensive forward (Davey does this better). He didn't lead, so he wasn't supposed to be the lead up forward or a decoy (Monfries probably does this better). He has very poor overhead skills, so surely he wasn't meant to be a marking forward (Ryder/Hurley do this much better). So what the hell was his role?

P.S. Just after I started thinking this, he actually did take a mark, which led to one of those late goals that won (stole?) us the game. So maybe he was supposed to be a marking target/decoy or something?? Dunno.

No. Not up to that anymore. Hocking will get first crack.

Totally agree. NLM lucky to keep his spot to be honest but can't see anyone else coming in for him.

Welsh ran around like a headless chook and should be put out of his misery and Hooker was like a lost dog who couldn't find his owner.

Above everything else, we missed those casual 60 metere lace out passes to an Essendon player 10 meteres clear of anyone else as a result of the kick out.

Gadget and Heath in

Hooker and Welsh out and Reimers bloody lucky.

Colyer, Hooker and Welsh are all going to play in Bendigo's Elim final this weekend.

We will most likely play on a Sunday against the scum the week after, and the boys are amped.

All according to Jobe.

We really need to start weening oursleves off Fletcher kick ins. How many guys did we rotate through on Sunday and they all struggled.

Long is supposed to be a master at it, but we may never see that.

Hurley is a dead set gun at kick ins. Unfortunately he is needed elsewhere.(well like everywhere if we could clone him).

And I think Dempsey goes alright.
