2012 will be most like what past season and why?

Talk about everything Essendon. Past, Present and Future if it's about the Bombers this is the place to be.

2012 will be most like what past season and why?

Post by Windy_Hill »

1992

A group of young players Heppell, Carlisle, Hurley, Pears, Zaharakis to form the core of a future premiership team. Similar to the scenario when Hird, Misiti, Mercuri first appeared in 1992. The end of 2012, we will see the likes of Joe Daniher selected under the Father and Son rule just as Fletcher was at the end of 1992. There is still a group of experienced players such as Watson, Hocking, Stanton, Winderlich, Hille, McVeigh just as 1992 had Bewick, Long, Somerville, Salmon and Wallis.

I dont think we made the finals in 1992 however, I expect we will be a 6-8 team this year

Which of course means that in 2013.......

Off season posts are the pits

I know, trust me, I am trying to get something going here......apart from accusing James Hird of doing a Gary Neiwand, I am not sure I will get much response

My thinking too. We'll still blame the draw, the injuries and the shit players and lack of game plan.

It'll be what it will be. No two seasons are the same. Different players, different eras, different coach. Don't know why we need to compare or predict to be honest... :?

No, I've already paid for my membership.

Seriously, I am taking nothing ever again from PS or the previous year. Think back to 2008 post season!

And we will be squaring off post match about a single player/whipping boy who "cost" the win (despite it being a drubbing), we will be calling for the regular selection of the next messiah to win the premiership (think CJ/Gumby/muscles) while bemoaning the inadequacy of medical science to get these self same players onto the field.

And so it goes ...

The dream would be to win a final of course... but I would be happy if we could consolidate our position next season, finish 7th or 8th... have limited injuries and really get a core group of youngster together that end up playing a solid 15-20 games together in the starting team.

If we do any better than that it will be a bonus I reckon. 2013-2014 is where I would really expect us to start challenging.
