Pears.
Tough call though - we probably had 15 players who were dreadful tonight.

Re: Worst on ground..
said before the game he wont have an impact, only due to the weather conditions.... f**** me why a small forward who has kicked the 2nd most goals in our team got subbed from the game...... some very poor decisions made by everyone tonightGimps wrote:I'm going to give it to Bellchambers..

I might get howled down here but I thought won of biggest culprits tonight was that old whipping boy Stants.
I lost count of the number of times he f***** up by not going hard enough.

he was horribly soft.
Re: Worst on ground..
Stanton's performance was indicative of the "old Essendon"
Yet as bad as he was - I can't get over Benny Howlett bombing the ball in - not once - not twice - not thrice - but 4 times in the 1st quarter to an uncontested Melbourne defensive mark.

Re: Worst on ground..
The conditions completely threw them tonight and the game plan went out the window
They just looked completely at sea and I got the sense that they were panicking under the pressure. Their slick ball passing went to water (literally) and old habits returned.
Put it down to a bad night at the office
The test of this team's improvement now comes in a must win gam against the Swans - lose that, and all of a sudden they are back in the pack

Re: Worst on ground..
For me we kept Melbourne in the game because we kept missing shot at goal that should have been kicked, and the amount of turnovers by foot missing targets that should have been hit - 64 inside 50's to 51 (35 in the first half).
If we'd kicked straight at goal and in play it would have been over by half time.
Worst of ground was a team effort (Watson, Carlisle and a couple of others excused).
As I said, we gave no respect to Melbourne. WE turned up thinking we were a pack a superstars getting picked as flag favourites during the week, playing a team that was in all sorts of crap with no wins and thinking that it was going to be easy.
This hopefully will be the kick in the bum we needed so we can take the next step.
I am hoping there are 22 very angry, embarrassed and upset players who wore our jumper last night who realise they've been bitten by the karma police and trun up ready to play no matter who the opposition.

I hope they were out doing a midnight recovery season at the Middle Park beach. They deserved it. Putrid footy.

Re: Worst on ground..
I give it to EFC (exclude Fletch and maybe Watson).
I saw very little of the game on telly, but kept up with it on the net. Every second possie from both sides seem to be a 'clanger' (turn over) and it seemed that if one team had 3 possies in a row, you were a chance to score, though in our situation, it was more than likely a point...
Not sure how much of an effect the weather had, but I will be f***** if I am going to ever watch this game...

Impossible to choose just one player, they should all give their match payments to the Flight Plan after the shit they dished up.

Yes...we must ALL now donate to the flight plan because it is now obvious that our facilities caused this aberration.robrulz5 wrote:Impossible to choose just one player, they should all give their match payments to the Flight Plan after the shit they dished up.

That doesn't excuse lack of effort which happened on quite a few occasions last night.little_ripper wrote:Stants was hard tagged again. He is really copping it week in and week out now.hop wrote:Stanton's performance was indicative of the "old Essendon"

I'm sure he will come through but he needs to be able to deal with a hard tag because he will probably cop one for the rest of his career.
