Re: Robbo's thoughts on who might go at years end
Pears involved in a trade for Caddy (or someone else) is the only possible explanation I can think of as to why he wouldn't be here next year.
Injury/poor form has ruined his past 2 seasons but I wouldn't simply be delisting a bloke who has best form would allow him to be a very good AFL player.

he also said GWS would be into Pears so we could end up with a mid from them... Coniglio would be my only pick

Re: Robbo's thoughts on who might go at years end
I sorta read it the other way. You titled the thread "Robbo's thoughts on who might go" and then answered "no" to Hille, McVeigh and Slattery. I immediately said WTF!!!
But now I understand....
Monfries, NLM?

I just cant see GWS giving up a number 2 draft pick for Pears.Jazz_84 wrote:he also said GWS would be into Pears so we could end up with a mid from them... Coniglio would be my only pick
Re: Robbo's thoughts on who might go at years end
You would want to get someone damn good in exchange for pears. Massive risk to let him go. Caddy maybe. Or if its gws an under 17 pick or top 3 pick and try for Whitfield

They wanted Hurley and a first round pick for Caddy last year.saladin wrote:You would want to get someone damn good in exchange for pears. Massive risk to let him go. Caddy maybe. Or if its gws an under 17 pick or top 3 pick and try for Whitfield
Now they'll give him up for Pears?
Top 3 pick?
What drugs are you on? I want some!
Re: Robbo's thoughts on who might go at years end
I would not trade pears so I would be asking well over the odds. Do not let him go for an average prospect. People have forgotten how good he is likely to be with an injury free run at things. Imo, pears for caddy is a fair chance of being a nett loss for us.
Keep in mind, this is robbo throwing up gws interest. I'd just do what gold coast did to us - ask for the world.

Re: Robbo's thoughts on who might go at years end
I am sure pears is pencilled in as the third tall once fletcher retires.
But efc has so many good talls plus daniher coming on next year so maybe he is onto something.
Reckon robbo is full of shit a lot of the time tho.

Re: Robbo's thoughts on who might go at years end
I still remember pears before all of the injuries struck. If he can get a clear run at it, I'm sure he will get back to the way he was playing. Gametime and confidence in the body will do him the world of good. With Fletch nearing the end, I see Pears as an important player.
Would be extremely surprised if he is not in red and black (and grey) next year.

I wouldn't mind Toby Greene, going to be a star.Jazz_84 wrote:he also said GWS would be into Pears so we could end up with a mid from them... Coniglio would be my only pick

Re: Robbo's thoughts on who might go at years end
FWIW I would trade Pears for Caddy or the GWS 17yo thing if there is someone good available there. Probably need to include more too.
Yes, Pears could be very good, but he could also continue to get injured or never take off again and we NEED another good midfielder.
FWIW my (other) cuts in order would be: Slattery, McVeigh, Prismall, Ross, Steinberg, Reimers.
The number would depend on how many eventually get cut and is based on the assumption that NLM and Monfries will be nowhere near out.

Aaron Francis is the Messiah.
Re: Robbo's thoughts on who might go at years end
You'd cut Ross!? Really? Wow. FWIW, I think he is safe as houses and most likely in the group of signings from a month ago.
Re: Robbo's thoughts on who might go at years end
Pretty sure Prismal is contracted until next year.

Re: Robbo's thoughts on who might go at years end
We should be able to get Caddy and a 1st round pick for Pear and Slattery.
Id say thats fair...
Gee, some of the people on BT are completely deluded when it comes to trades around here: "Yeah...lets give up a couple of guys that cant even get a game here for a future star or maybe a 1st round draft pick". bwahahaha!!!!
Wake up people.

Yep, no way we'd get anywhere near Caddy if we only offer up Pears. Be lucky to get Caddy with Pears & a 2nd round pick.
