Alex Browne and Courtney Dempsey
After lowering his colours in the last couple of weeks Dempsey made a statement today. Went in hard at all day and showed us what a class player he can be.
We have found one in Browne, even if one of his goals was a fluke. Can get the hard ball and has a mature body for such a young player. I hope he plays for the rest of the year, he'll only get better.

Browne is a great one, looking forward to seeing how he progresses, and hopes he does a Heppel and not a Bolton.
Quite distracting though to hear them calling the game and referring to a 'Browne'... have we ever had a Browne on the list? I just don't associate it with Essendon, I keep thinking he plays for the opposition![Laughing :lol:](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)

Just checked. Last Brown played 2 games for us in 1982. No wonder I don't remember ![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)

Browne - this kid looks like a keeper.
I was really impressed with him tonight
Will only get better.
Dempsey - best game for the year.
Awesome when switched on...

Yep, Brian Brown - Jonathon's old man! It's Sheedy's fault that he didn't play him another 48 games so we could get the father / sonMegan wrote:Just checked. Last Brown played 2 games for us in 1982. No wonder I don't remember

And then Sheeds would have played him out of position and had him in and out of the side, completely f****** up his career anyway...BenDoolan wrote:Yep, Brian Brown - Jonathon's old man! Aah...you young people (
)
Greg Brown played over 80 games for us in the 60's and was full-back in our 1965 premiership team.
According to the EFC Website, we also had:
Bruce BROWN who played 1 game in 1972 (can't say I remember him)
and
Harold BROWN who played 8 games in 1897-98 (I definitely don't remember him
)

Bruce Brown was a wingman/forward flanker type who came to us from Melbourne where he managed a few games. His father was Alf Brown, the doyen of football journalists at the time.

Yep, wore #13 and came from Fitzroy where he played 51 games (hence Brisbane having the father / son option - was only 50 games back in those days).Megan wrote:We had Jon Browns old man? Re: Alex Browne and Courtney Dempsey
Shit. If he'd played 50 for us I imagine J Brown would have preferred to stay down here than go up to Brisbane and we were pretty good when he was drafted. Would have been handy.BenDoolan wrote:Yep, wore #13 and came from Fitzroy where he played 51 games (hence Brisbane having the father / son option - was only 50 games back in those days).Megan wrote:We had Jon Browns old man? Re: Alex Browne and Courtney Dempsey
I agree with the OT.
Dempsey was very good and Browne looks really promising. He'd shown a bit in the VFL when I've been watching, so I'm not too surprised.
