Jackson Merrett

Talk about everything Essendon. Past, Present and Future if it's about the Bombers this is the place to be.

Jackson Merrett

Post by paddyl90 »

We really need a review thread haha. Didn't know where to put this.

Thought he was great. Did some good little things throughout the game. Great in the contest, chases well and isn't bad in front of goal. Even remember his game last year Round 23 v Pies he showed a lot.

Hope we get more Merrett time this year!

Going to change your avatar to JP_20?

Haha, just kidding

He's coming on very quickly. Very impressed with what he's done so far this season. He's been very lively and playing with a fair bit of confidence. Personally, I thought he was overawed in that game last year. O'Brien was the one who showed a lot. In any case, Merrett didn't go back into his shell after he fumbled that bounce. He got more determined. And he's playing with a fair bit of that this year.

I think we've got one here. 150+ game player for mine.

Need 2-3 more of his vintage (Kavanagh, O'Brien etc.) to step up over the next season or two and we'll be very well placed to have a sustained period of quality over the next 5 years.

Really liked his game. Looks composed and confident. Already ahead of Melksham.

Jimmy - time to give that signature a bit of a trim again ;) (edit - just saw your comment over in the other thread...beat me to it)

Made a few errors and fumbled very early when the heat was on but got better and better and more confident as the game went on. Love how he is backing himself and bobbing up with a couple of goals a match!

All he needs is a feed. I am very confident that once he and Kav have a couple more pre-seasons in them, our biggest issue will be cap pressure.

Not sold on this kid yet. Got some pace but I'd like him to find the ball more.

I was surprised Merrett got dropped for the Freo game and then I was surprised again to see him back in after Kavanagh played so well. The kid hasn't done a thing wrong this year and it's great to blood a few young guns while we are having success. In fact it's obviously a very important part of long term success.

Haha! Risk I'm willing to take! He didn't move this year with all the changes. Doubt he will now. He better not.

Yeah I reckon he would like to make the number his own. Doubt we have many champion #40 players over our history!
