I agree both showed something. That knock that Ambrose took and wasn't awarded a free kick, his ability to just get up and absorb that was enormous. He is going to be one hell of a footballer and will get better with every game. He has only been playing footy for four months Bomber said tonight. Amazing.

Gleeson very quick and zippy. There may not be much of him and he might look about 12 but he's got talent.

Zac Merrett. Will be a permanent fixture before too long.

I've played footy with Patty since Year 10 and tonight was no surprise to me. He will go on and play plenty more games with us.

The 1%ers, the little things, hard at it. He is an absolute machine. Was told by a current Essendon player that he is the fittest, the quickest and the strongest at the club.

What makes him better is he is one of the greatest blokes you'll meet. Couldn't be happier for him tonight!

Bomber was saying in his pressed he had never played three debutants in the one team before. Steve via Tom Harley mentioned in 2002 that he had Ablett, Bartel and David Johnson debut in the same team.

If our three end up with somewhat comparable careers we will be extremely happy.

Both were brilliant and didn't look out of place! Gleeson very skinny but does all the right things. Ambrose reminded me of Sammy Lonergan last night- led with the head and tackled hard!
