A Team for this week.

Talk about everything Essendon. Past, Present and Future if it's about the Bombers this is the place to be.

A Team for this week.

Post by Flip »

Backs. Bags Hurls Gwilt

Half Backs. Pig (fire up mate) Hooks Dempsey

Centres. Edwards Goddard Cooney

Half Forwards. Chappy (chances are getting fewer digger) McKernan Zaka (if fit)

Forwards. Buckets (leading one way) Joe (the opposite) Zerret

Rucks. Giles Hepp Colyer

Interchange: Browne (have to reward good form and instil desire by having people fighting for positions) Stanton, Melks, Benny

We have to try something....be imaginative....be different....knock complacency out of people dropped.....can't be worse than we have been, :(

Can someone explain the logic behind dropping one ruckman and bringing in 2?

Zaka is still weeks away
Giles or McKernan for TBell, but def not both...

Play Carlisle as the CHF where his shit kicking for goal will be less of an issue and Joey out of the square...

We have lost Fletch and they have a very tall forward line and then there is 200cm Blicavs running around like a rover.....insurance may be wise.

McKernan may not be able to play this week if Winderlich comes back in the VFL. Even f Winderlich is ready, I'd give him another week just so we can see McKernan get another run.

We lost Fletch, but we don't need 2 rucks for him and TBell...
We already have Hurley and Hooker who are two of the best defenders in the game right now...

I would rather Steinberg or Pears for Fletch and Giles or McKernan for TBell (my pref would be Sternberg & McKernan)
Or are you expecting them to send Carlisle down back, play two rucks, with Joe at CHF and the resting ruck in the square?
Stupid...

If McKernan can't play, the Giles should...

Isn't Myers also on the LTI list?

If Dempsey wasn't dropped earlier in the year, you're dreaming if you think he won't play this week.

Dempsey needs to be regulated to the EDFL.

id rather mckernan as the third tall instead of ambrose. ambrose just doesn't do enough. mckernan is quite agile and athletic, much more so than the lumbering ambrose. mckernan can take a grab, play some ruck if needed or stay around the f50. much more versatile.

Please, no.
How soon we forget.
Carlisle won't do any better than Hurley in defense, but we'd surely lose in attack by replacing Carlisle with Hurley.
I know, so often Carlisle can't kick straight, but that's something that can be fixed. Didn't he kick 8 last year?
Has Hurley ever kicked 8? And not likely to. He rarely kicked more than 2, was constantly leading to pockets, constantly lead under the ball, and constantly had the ball bounce out of his hands in marking attempts. And most on here constantly reminded us of his shortcomings as a forward. Hurley is much better suited in defense.

Number of times he's kicked more than 2. Out of a total of around 3 and a bit years up forward. Not a shabby record. A far better record than Carlisle, bar that one game when he kicked 8.

6 goals - 1
5 goals - 1
4 goals - 6
3 goals - 8

And he is a shitload better player now. Matured, smarter footballer. And that's not just because he is playing down back. If Carlisle doesn't lift, they need to have a crack at this change as we don't have anyone else to switch with Carlisle that is worth a pinch of shit.

If Hurley is to be moved anywhere - my preference would be to play in the pivot. A big body to block, crash and bash the opposition and to provide some spark and run. We are being murdered at the ruck contested and clearances (despite what the stats might say). This is primarily due to Bellcho's laziness and ineptitude and our lack of fit, classy on-ballers.

IMHO our season is over because of this - I cant see us turning it around anytime soon. The next fortnight is make or break. We need something creative and dynamic and we need it starting tonight - quarter one!
My material isn't very good..Oh...and then there's the bladder problem.
