Talk about everything Essendon. Past, Present and Future if it's about the Bombers this is the place to be.

Captain Zach - Merrett

Post by Ronny Rotten » Thu Aug 11, 2016 1:46 pm

Zach has been appointed captain in the absence of BJ.
Third youngest captain, at 20 years, ever of EFC. After Madden & Tim Watson. Elite company there. Future champ if not already.
Congratulations Zach.
Go Bombers.

Great decision by the club/coaches. Been a standout this year and will only get better.

Congrats to the young man and I hope he has a big day!!

Don't think Watson was amongst the youngest captains.

I think Neale Daniher was

Yeah flattering for him but what does it mean? Might as well have some fun at year's end :)

It means he has Captained this club. I think he'll win the B&F this year but regardless, the way he ha gone about his footy this year has been amazing. Full tilt at every contest and then hauling arse to get to the next one. In a season where he could have coasted, he stood up for this club. As I've said before, he has singlehandedly wiped out the draft penalties.

OK, I concede he got a fill in captaincy early but he wasn't the official captain until after Terry Daniher

He's a ripper. What a season he's having. Deserved to be captain yesterday, and deserves to enjoy success. He's on target to breaking the record for most disposals in a season at the club. What a great effort that would be at age 20. Will cream the Crichton this year, and TBH, should make the AA team too.

In reality, he won't make it. Dangerfield, Hannebery and Martin are locks. Not to mention the dozen Hawthorn players that will get in...

Will probably be in the squad, but not the final team IMO...

Might've, could've, should've didn't.
Despite a record breaking season at Essendon as a 20 year old.
Flying under someones radar, but everyone at Essendon knows we have an absolute gem.

Haha, 6th highest in disposals in the comp this season. Of those above him (Neale, Dangerfield, Hannebery, Martin, Treloar), he has the 3rd best disposal efficiency behind Neale and Treloar. And he can't crack the squad? Get f*****.
