The opener v CROWS
The opener v CROWS
The team is:
Backs: Slattery Fletcher Michael
Half Backs: M. Johnson Lucas McPhee
Centres: Winderlich Peverill McVeigh
Half Forwards: Hird Ryder Welsh
Forwards: Davey Lloyd Jetta
Rucks: Hille Lovett Stanton
Bench: Bradley Lovett-Murray Monfries Watson
3 of the bench will go....Bolton Dyson Johns dropped from 25
The named team seems good, though Ryder, Welsh and Lucas show the signs that the match committee have continued their own devious form.
I would move:
Welsh to the bench
Monfries to hff
Ryder to the bench
Lucas from CHB to CHF
Fletch to CHB
Mal from BP to FB
MJ from HBF to BP
NLM from the bench to HBF
Pev v Watson...depends on matchups.
I'm hopeful of a decent contest at worse, and maybe even a win.
Forecast 26C.

Pev deserves a game before he does......been in better form in pre season.
Why the continued calls for the dropping of Pev and Welsh?
Both have shown good form in the preseason and as such deserve their places in the team this week.
You might not like them personally but you all should be able to recognise that the match committee make choices more on form than personality.
If they perform poorly, then call for them to be dropped, but until then support them as they are Bomber players and doing their best.

I beg to differ with Welsh, swoods. I am a Welsh fan, but he disappointed me immensely last season with his constant indecision and turnover output, and consistently put team mates under heaps of pressure. I saw nothing different in the NAB cup, and although I did not see any of the practice matches, I have had no indication that he has erradicated his damaging habits. This is also compounded by the fact that he is a coaches pet, and his finishing 5th in the B&F is a classic example of that. I hope as hell that he gets back to his normal hard, attacking football, but I have the current impression that he is too negatitve and hesitant in his thinking.swoodley wrote:Why the continued calls for the dropping of Pev and Welsh?

Will be a little difficult for me to be in the match thread; since I'm watching it live at AAMI Stadium, and I don't own a laptop that I could take with me to get on in the break between quarters.Gossy7 wrote:Lets try and get a good turnout in the match thread boys. I'll be watching it live, so will be on here keeping you guys with it!

There are only two people in the team who have worse disposal.Sismis wrote:Welsh may not have the greatest disposal but he is a good BP and deserves his spot.
He is slow off the mark these days, perhaps carrying an injury last year.
There is no doubting his toughness, but you need more than that. I would prefer to see Slattery given every oppuntunity in the BP this year. He is relatively quick and has good skill (at times).
He kicks on the left
He kicks on the riiiiiiiiigggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhttttttttttttt

One down...21 to go.
It will be enjoyable reading the media's response to this game win, and seeing a few journo turds swallowing shite!
Bottom 4? Not on todays form..but still it's a long season.
Our last interstate win was v the Crows in '04, so it's a nice drought to see broken.
Being an away win, it compares more favourably with the first round win last year.![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

And had $10 on us at the TAB at $3.50
