Thanks Ben.

I hope Mark’s doing ok now.Class player, but off the field I didn’t really know much about him, except for the tragic loss of his brother. You guys would know a bit more about what happened there, than I would.Hope the family has recovered from such a sad loss.

Noticed on the Sheeds Video years back, how nice a guy he seemed,by giving the Phantom a friendly pat,so I reckon that touch of humanity about him, should stand him in good stead somewhere and hopefully always.

At the very least on weekends, hope he deservedly enjoys something out of 2 Life Memberships.I assume he has one of each for the AFL and Essendon?

Pity he didn’t Win the Charlie in ‘99.Would have had a permanent invite to the night.

No idea how he’s going these days. I used to know a couple of guys who knew Mark and his brother Robbie personally. Haven’t caught up with these guys for a few years now.

I know at the time of his brother’s death, the family was given an opportunity to view footage of the incident (to show the family no foul play was involved), and Mark took up that offer. I guess we’ll never know how that truly affected him, but he was never the same after this.

And to add to this horrible tragedy, Mark was also confronted with finding his flat mate dead from suicide /accidental death in 2005.

Reflecting from the Radio side of things folks, who called our games in ‘93 on the ‘ole Wireless?

ABC
3AW
3KZ
K Rock

Did Harry(Beitzel)and Tommy(Lahiff)call That Magic Match against the Cats?

Was that the feed 6PR might have got,as opposed to 3AW?

Don’t know. You guys would know all that.

Was that Tommy pulling Timmy aside for an Interview after the Grand Final?

If so,who was calling with Tommy,if Harry wasn’t calling the action?

ABC would have been "Smooth Booth" and "Smokey Dawson" I'd think

Thanks nudder.

Yes,Peter Booth of course.Used to simply love hearing him call.No outstanding reason really.I just enjoyed hearing his voice, usually on a lazy weekend day in Summer from The G,when Shield Cricket there, could be heard in Perth.

Possibly Smokey,but I’m a bit hazy when he joined Southern Cross.Maybe 1996?

What about Bobby Skilton,Ian Cleland and even Glen James?Jamesy was just starting to get a good profile, especially late in the season, with a Sunday Morning. What was it called?

I thought it was Bernie Quinlan who interviewed Timmy after the final siren? Later in the evening it was Peter Donegan. Contemplated calling it a day. Bruce suggested he play on as he was sitting on 298 games.

Thought I saw Tommy interview Timmy in the Premiership Huddle around the Dais.Of course,we didn’t hear it,if weren’t listening to his Statiom at the time.

A few more things to discuss about this great year, before the year’s out, game wise.

Be it,passages of play, spectators in shot, controversies, reasons for Wins,Losses and Draw.

For starters, anyone get pinged for treading on Tony Free in the Night Grand Final?Wasn’t Longy was it?

Hope Hirdy is watching that Grand Final to cheer himself up.It was a Gem. =D>

Was it you that said Basil Zemplas was trying his best to confuse his listeners with supposition and mix mastering? The ol’ 3AW crew seemed a batch of it back then. Did you routinely listen back in the day?

Don’t think I recall the Snozz do that, much as I’d jump all over that with him.

Never mind Snozz,do you remember anything outstanding from the Night Grand Final?Did Todd Ridley play in back to back Night Flags, before we generously donated he and Tony Delaney’s services to the NKOTB,Fremantle not long after? 8)

Night flag ‘93 was the same night as the Federal Election. I remember the crowd going nuts when the scoreboard showed Labor (Keating) winning the unwinnable election.

Todd Ridley could fly. Smooth mover. Could snag a goal or 2. Given #18 for a reason. Was it he, Delaney, Dale Kickett and Russell Williams? All Sandgropers??

Russ Williams came over in ‘94.

The 1st 3(not without a spot of talent)were traded to new Club Fremantle which delivered 1 Mathew Lloyd.

You know the rest of that story. :D

I think Rusty returned a year after he arrived. Pretty sure he was bundled with the others in order for us to jump the queue to get Lobby Lloyd.

Whenever he came over, unfortunately he didn’t last too long.

I don’t recall him making any impact at Essendon.

Another Kid with Potential,....
