Our Best 22 - Anyone's Guess

We must have the hardest best 22 to pick in the league when all players are available.

My side changes everytime I try to select it.

I am assuming 2 new mandatory inclusions (Akermanis and Gibbs) and the rest of the current squad.

I guess its because we have so many unknown quantities.

In my mind only the following players can really consider themselves mandatory automatic selections each week

Automatic Selections

Lloyd
Hird
Fletcher
Lucas
Stanton
Watson
M Johnson
J Johnson
McPhee
McVeigh
Hille

Probable Selections

Welsh
Lovett-Murray
Monfries
Lovett
Solomon
Dyson
Camporeale
Bradley
Laycock
Peverill
Johns

Borderline

Bolton
Heffernan
Lee
Ryder
Nash
Slattery
Dempey
Henneman
Jolley
Cartlege
Lucy
Reynolds
Lonergan
Winderlich

Who have I left out?

The reason its so up in the air is we have so many players who are unproven or not quite good enough.

Im pretty sure Carlscum will pick Hanson so we get Giibs I think.

FB: McVeigh, Fletcher, M. Johnson
HB: McPhee, Lucus, NLM
C: Acker, Stanton, Campo
HF: Lovett, Lloyd, Monfries
FF: Hird, Johns, Gibbs
Rov: Hill, J Johnson, J Watson

Int. Bradley, Solomon, Laycock, Winderlich

Not only do we have alot of unknowns, but after last seasons efforts from some senior players, hard to say they will get back to form and earn their spot. ie. If M Johnson and D Solomon continue to play like last year they probably wont deserve their spots.

Welsh and Peverill are senior guys I would happily include if any of the above dont play to thier abilities. And Dyson, Dempsey and Lee could improve enough to force one of the above out of the 22.

If Heff, Bolton or Henneman are still around and get any game time, then you know our depth has again been tested by injury and found wanting and we are in for another miserable season. :(

It changes all the time.

Right now it is:

B: McVeigh, Fletcher, M. Johnson
HB: Lovett-Murray, Hansen, McPhee
C: Lovett, Watson, Dyson
HF: Akermanis, Lucas, Hird
F: Monfries, Lloyd, Johns
R: Hille, J. Johnson, Stanton
Int: Winderlich, Laycock, Slattery, Camporeale
Emerg: Ryder, Lee, Nash

Lots of trading/delisting/retiring to happen between now and Round 1

I reckon thats the best 22 Pazza. I reckon they should go after Hansen or give Lee a go as long as they do something to sort out the hole at CHB. Not just do a patch up job with Solly or McPhee.

That combination would take some beating and with a bit of luck could be serious finals material.

is the CHB we need a Gumbleton or Hansen.... Hansen a strong kid but may take a bit to develop against grown men, gumbleton though has been playing in WAFL against bigger bodies already... Hansen better in long run

Do my eyes deceive me? Or is there one noticeable omission from Pazza's team? Say it ain't so!

How is Gumbleton/ Hansen in any better position to get a role in the side ahead of say, Lee.

I think you have it right there. I don't think Hird will play every game next year. He will get rested once every 4 weeks. Campo won't stay fit and I don't think Hansen will play every game (Play 2 out of every 3 games, similar to Monfries last year).
