Apparently Luey and Baguley have been put in the hallway for a decision on whether to bin or offer new contract after any new furniture is brought in during trade week. (Source Herald-Sun)

Would have thought its a bit rough on Baguley
Tend to agree, baggers has been great up forward, but if everyone is fit and firing, is he best 22???

Leuy, open the lid and hop in son...

What’s the hesitation on Leuenberger? Absolute dead wood.

Baguley should get another year.
We need a back up ruckman. If Belcho goes down we don't have anyone. I can see the point of giving Luey a 1 year deal on minimum wage.

Baguley deserves another year on his form this season.

Luey has to go and we need to find another young Ruckman in this draft.

Baggers should be given another year - he reinvented himself as a reliable small forward. He managed to get goals and put great pressure on the opposition smalls. With Green gone I don't see the need to get rid of him as well.

Bellchambers, Daniher, McKernan and Draper are more than enough on the list IMO.

Looney is a dinosaur, and a chronic injury risk. Would rather free up his spot for a more mobile and athletic type player.

If Bellchambers goes down for an extended period I wouldn't want Daniher in the ruck. McKernan isn't a full time ruckman and while Draper has a heap of potential he is extremely raw.

I think the club is looking for a more mobile athletic player but if they can't find one the might hang onto him for 12 months.

So why not start putting game time into Draper?

Even if he starts out with 5-10 minute stints to give Belly a chop out...

Leuy is insurance, but it’s crap insurance at best...almost as bad as when we took Matty Allen from the scum...

I’m not saying we should get rid of Draper and we should start looking at giving him game time.

I’m saying if Bellchambers goes down for an extended period I don’t think Draper is ready to be number 1 ruckman.

We need a back up ruckman and Luey maybe our only option. We will see after trade week.

Don’t forget to at least look at Zac Clarke.

I didn’t say get rid of Draper...I said start getting game time into him.

As for Leuy, yes, he’s insurance but IMO below avg and he’s been just as injury prone as Belly..,
Maybe Zac Clarke is worth a look...or maybe Preuss from Norf...

I don't like that many lumbering ruckmen on the senior list. How many pure ruckmen are there on the list at the top clubs?

Benny is correct, the role of ruck has changed...

Rucks are no longer the pure tall tap rucks - other teams run a negating ruck who can pick up clearances and run forward to mark and run back to stand the mark on the 50M mark or on the goal line. They don't stick to the tramlines in the center square anymore. They also seem to get a goal a game.

Nankervis, is an archetype of this type of ruck. Gawn and Grundy are also, but they also win the taps.

Shocked about Baguley!

Surprised about Luey. Surely he’s done. Unless we’re trying to use him in a trade of some sort. But I’d be very surprised that any club would want a broken down 30+ year old one dimensional ruckman.

The only thing that makes sense to me is a back-up for insurance purposes and as a specialist ruck coach (like the big Russian did when we faced the Saga - and the year beyond).

Okay, add 32. Who's next? The way things are going there'll be no one to bag next year.

Hartley has singed on for 2019 one year deal.... great news! He is excellent backup for the defense... how many more have be moved on?

So, technically, he’s been put into the recycle bin

I like Hartley. He’s a very strong defender. Hardly beaten on one on ones. But he just doesn’t have that ability to provide much on the offensive side of things. Great back up though.

Reality is that we have 3 really solid back up key defenders in Hartley, Ambrose and Brown. With Francis coming on impressively in late 2018, the defensive stocks, as far as the big guys go, has never looked better

lmao, brown is NOT a solid defender. i cringe when hes in a one on one contest down back. he showed he can kick a goal though.
