“I’m hearing he is on the piss all the time”

“I won’t be drawn into discussing the matter”

Think you have the balls to accuse him of having a drinking problem/ not being committed to his career - then you get challenged on it, your vagina gets moist, then try to take the high road? Give us a f****** spell, Windy.

:o Interesting context you present here Gimps,on moisture.I wonder how many other scenarios like this can arise?
There’s plenty of moisture on here, and on Essendon’s list.

Thanks Gimper, but to be clear, I am not accusing him of anything. Your quote even shows that I said “ hearing”. No direct accusation whatsoever. Can you show me where I have? Merely relaying what I was told by someone who has ongoing dealings with Joe. I am not taking the high road as you call it. I just don’t think it necessary to divulge anymore detail. I think to mention this issue in the first instance was a perfectly reasonable response to a lot of false speculation about Joe’s motivation to leave the club.

By the way, I think it was Goddard who accused Joe of lacking commitment to his rehabilitation.

I quite frankly don’t give a shit what his issues are. Whether it’s grog, lattes, grass or sprog.

But when he pulls on that jumper, I expect 100% commitment and effort.

Just play the game Joey.

Unfortunately, you can't drown a witch!

Did anyone else get the feeling from Joe’s presser that he is still a fair way off with his OP? In which case, you would have to think with Stewart also under a big question mark, Hooker will likely play forward with McKernan in the first part of 2020.

Why don't you ask the source that told you about his drinking problem that you won't be drawn into discussing?

Meh - a nothing story at this stage of the year ... except for the litany of the walking wounded at the end of the article.
Daniher bound for Ireland again to visit groin guru
Daniel Cherny
January 16, 2020 — 3.52pm

Joe Daniher is again bound for Ireland with the injury-riddled forward set to visit world-leading specialist Dr Andy Franklyn-Miller later this month in a bid to curb the Bomber's groin woes.

After consecutive seasons in which he has played just seven and four games respectively, Daniher is yet to resume full training with Essendon, with the Dons' opening-round clash with Fremantle little over two months away.
Joe Daniher at a media op ahead of the 2020 season, which he'll start at Essendon following a failed trade request.

Daniher and fellow forward James Stewart visited Franklyn-Miller in Dublin during the off-season, with both having been sidelined with groin issues for much of 2019.

Essendon confirmed to The Age that as Daniher works to progress back to full fitness, he will return to Ireland to meet the doctor in coming weeks as part of the next phase of his rehabilitation program.

Comfortable with the big man's progress, the Bombers and Daniher have been in regular communication with Franklyn-Miller.

Franklyn-Miller is the clinic director of the Sports medicine, biomechanics, rehabilitation and research centre at Dublin's Sports Surgery clinic.

He has also worked with the British Olympic rowing team, England Rugby and the Melbourne Storm.

Greater Western Sydney defender Aidan Corr has credited his own return from groin issues to the work of Dr Franklyn-Miller and his colleagues.

Daniher's ongoing groin concerns continue three months after his unsuccessful bid to be traded to Sydney, with the Swans and Bombers unable to come to terms for a deal last October.

Daniher, who turns 26 in March, will be a restricted free agent at season's end, with speculation about his future set to rumble until he-signs with the Dons or again requests a move.

Ruled out midway through the 2019 season with osteitis pubis, Daniher underwent an adductor release using the same surgeon who operated on Sydney trio Harry Cunningham, Lance Franklin and Dan Menzel.

"I just want to get out and train and train really hard and provide some real good leadership for this football club," Daniher said in November as he returned to the Bombers for pre-season training.

"[There will be a] lot of speculation and hypotheticals about what next year looks like but the priority for me is getting out there and putting on a really good performance for this football club.”

An All-Australian and best and fairest in 2017, Daniher was one of a long list of Essendon players on limited duties last week as the Bombers returned following the Christmas break, with captain Dyson Heppell, Cale Hooker, David Zaharakis, Zach Merrett, Mason Redman, Stewart, Jayden Laverde, Irving Mosquito, Will Snelling, Brandon Zerk-Thatcher, Noah Gown and Lachie Johnson all on modified programs.

Rookie Mitch Hibberd was meanwhile helped from the field during training on Thursday after appearing to hurt his left knee.

And on the same day as this report re Daniher’s trip to Ireland The Age run a report stating we are heavily into Jeremy Cameron.

If Joe’s OP is chronic, as it would seem to be, then Essendon’s failure to secure couple of first rounders from Sydney will be severely scrutinized. Imagine getting Cameron on Free Agency (well he will be out of contract) as well as having had a first round pick in last years and next year’s draft

From memory Sydney were only offering the pick they were going to get from Carlton and there were no guarantees that they were going to get a first rounder from them. No way were we going to get two first rounders from them.

Both JB and Cameron are restricted free agents, so no guarantee that they will leave.

My understanding is SYDNEY were prepared to offer the Papley pick 9 on the basis that such a deal was already agreed with Carlton subject to the Swans getting Daniher. Additionally they were offering next years (2020) 1st round selection so yes, if it had all fallen into place then in all likelihood we would have received 2 first round picks over 2 seasons. On Cameron, it looks a long shot but we will have money with the likes of Zaka, Hooker and Hurley coming off the list in the next 2 years. GWS on the other hand have had to dig deep for several of their stars although Patton and Shiel leaving would have no doubt freed up some space

I doubt Cameron will leave unless GWS wins the cup this year. I recon they have this and the next season to do.

It would be nice to have a first round pick though. what is it - 5 years in the decade without a first round pick?

If Cameron does leave GWS, Hawthorn will trade him for 2 future 4th rounders and a dinner with Banyer. They just get the job done.

I’m still astounded we didn’t make a try for Patton knowing our forward line troubles. He’s a big target up front. I expect him to massively improve with opportunity this year
