Joe Daniher's Groin, Calf, Moustache, Little Pinky
I am now hearing on a couple of Fan Forums/Facebook Forums that Joe wont be seen playing senior football any earlier than Round 8.
Given he hasn't even done any serious pre-season work and cant really accelerate/decelerate as we speak, this pretty much rules him out as being in the appropriate shape to contribute much, if anything in 2019.
It would seem that we may well lose him as an effective option for 2 seasons in a row. This is such a shame, if it does turn out this way given the apparent upward trajectory the overall team is on. Imagine Joe adding 70 goals to the team in 22 games. I believe the alternative combinations of Stewart, McKernan and Brown added about 40 goals between them last year but across many more combined games.
I think McKernan could provide the best solution but his consistency and injuries seem to always cut him off just as he is about to really take off.
Hopefully a fit and firing Fantasia, an improving Laverde, a more settled Stringer and a fired up Walla can do the job. I guess we have to start thinking about Joe as a new "recruit"when he does comeback, fully prepared and fully fit.
We won 10 out of 14 games without Joe so it may not be such a hurdle to overcome but gee, it makes you wonder how good this team could be with the big man on the ground

Just when there’s an overwhelming sense of expectation, I get an overwhelming sense we’re going to be plagued with injuries.

Oh Bugger,....!
Re: Joe Daniher's Groin and the Implications
Justin Crow has a lot to answer for, Joe should never have been allowed to play as soon as the problem became obvious.
Re: Joe Daniher's Groin and the Implications
If it is discovered that the extent of JD's injury was exacerbated by playing him when injured, I will be very very cross.
Stewart doesn't seem to grasp his opportunity and Brown seems a bit hit and miss. Beguley is another option.
Are Francis or Zerk-Thatcher any good in front of goals?

We'd be better sending Hooker forward.s'dreams wrote: ↑Wed Jan 30, 2019 12:04 pm If it is discovered that the extent of JD's injury was exacerbated by playing him when injured, I will be very very cross.

Gee, for a team that's supposed to be crap at defense, we sure got a lot of tall defenders.boncer34 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 30, 2019 1:07 pmWe'd be better sending Hooker forward.s'dreams wrote: ↑Wed Jan 30, 2019 12:04 pm If it is discovered that the extent of JD's injury was exacerbated by playing him when injured, I will be very very cross.

Joe was part of match simulation today which is a good sign.

It's almost like the club plays down things to keep a lid on expectations.Windy_Hill wrote: ↑Wed Jan 30, 2019 6:32 pm
Just saw this....which is very encouraging.
Its also a little bit of a surprise as even Dan Richardson was being very cagey about Joes’s Progress in an SEN interview.

Well that's nice - after the bullshit pre-season hype we had last year. The f***book fans went completely bonkers. Wouldn't be surprised if there were suicides when the bottom dropped out of it mid-year.boncer34 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 30, 2019 9:45 pmIt's almost like the club plays down things to keep a lid on expectations.Windy_Hill wrote: ↑Wed Jan 30, 2019 6:32 pm

Re: Joe Daniher's Groin and the Implications
It’s good news, but a brief run around at full forward in match simulation isn’t anything to get too excited about. He still hasn’t hit top speed in straight line running. A long way to go. My contacts still saying Round 1 very unlikely.
Re: Joe Daniher's Groin and the Implications
I’m hearing half the squad is on ice at the moment (the cold, frozen variety). Heppell and McKenna now sustaining injuries.

If the training update videos are anything to go by it’s no wonder there are injuries starting to happen...it looks like it has been a particularly brutal preseason
