This is beyond a joke. Will we eventually produce less than 50 clangers in a game? I don’t think it was this bad last year??

We only had 3 occasions out of 22 where we had below 50 clangers in 2018.

Our worst Clanger count was against Richmond with 72. Interesting that we mass produced clangers against Richmond again with 80.

Never going to beat them when we produce those sort of numbers.

As a dumb question ... how does the clanger rate of the seniors compare to that of the VFL team (even adjusting for the lesser skill levels of many of the VFL players)?

A Clanger is a Clanger in my book, no matter where it is performed.

That is really bad. Good figures if you want to get rid of the coach tho. If we could get that 10% better it would be a lot of improvement but honestly we have a long way to go to gest onto the final series and play for the cup. A long, long, way, if you want to rock and roll.

The two are not mutually exclusive. The game plan is dependent on elite disposal skills. ie. Pinpoint passes into the corridor to a loose man. Problem is that two things eventuate, it pays off maybe 5 times out of 10 and when it doesn’t, the opposition are free to stroll into an undefended and open forward line. Alternately the pass goes astray resulting in the recipient being placed under the hammer and often forced to shoot out a Hail Mary handball or kick. ie Clangerville.

While it is exciting when it works, it is without question the reason for our sub par stats.

Worsfold needs to watch the game v WCE along with all of his coaching team and hopefully have an epiphany....so that’s how it’s done. That was a coaching masterclass by Simpson implemented almost perfectly by his team. And spare me the ridiculous argument their inaccuracy was due to some miracle of defensive game plan where we “forced them wide”. That was merely a consequence of repeated entries congestion get the forward line.
