Nah,I haven’t seen his old man yet this year.

A good mate of his old man is a regular at our games,so I’ll ask him where Mr Myers Snr has been lately.

Be critical of David if his footy warrants it mate, but try not to stick the boots in if possible,ok?
Just be sure to convince him to return home and there won’t be a problem

As s’dreams above. Clarke has the ability to combat our deficiency to rely on TBell all game. I like his endeavour and can see him have a crack. Mids and backs need to be supreme.
Big 4 quarter effort. They will punish us in turnovers

Huh....why all the love for Collingwood.

I think we are every chance if keep to our recent form. They have a 2 man forward line and a non existent back line.

Yeah good luck to them.

Merrett, Shiel, Heppell, McGrath, Smith, Zaharakis, Parish, Myers can hold their own against the Pies mids......provided they turn up.

And therein lies the issue...which Essendon will turn up
IIRC, didnt’t you say our players weren’t AFL standard and that anyone who comes into our system, we turn them into worse players?
Correct - see Langford and Laverde thread - Parish remains a concern and Francis is again back in the two's - but I am not sure of your point??

Our midfield has been performing well and if they turn up and play with the level of commitment we have seen recently then we are every chance
Surely your optimism isn’t stemming from us beating Melbourne, Brisbane and North?

No doubt, this will be the test of how good we are. Huge stage, tough opponent.
Definitely some inflated optimism -but remember, we only just lost to Top of the Table St Kilda

Definite changes
In: Smith and Zaha
Out: Ham and Ridley (not that they did anything wrong ... just someone must give way)

Considering changes:
Laverde for Baguley (though its hard not to kick 6 goals in a 100 point win and you hardly play in the midfield)
Clarke if fit - Do we really want TBell to shoulder the ruckwork against Grundy and Cox. Prefer Daniher away from the ruck
Langford for Myers ... not sure that Myers adds hugely to the team, but hey that's just me.. Langford's match fitness could be an issue.
What is this obsession with Langford? The last three weeks, we’ve beaten the opposition with speed and quick ball movement. Langford possesses neither.

According to WH’e Langford didn’t play ressies last week. Was he injured?

Put it this way, if he has displayed sufficient form at VFL level to justify a recall, it can only be if Myers is going the other way. We cannot play these 2 in the same team without grinding our free flowing style to a halt.

As for the changes, I agree with the 2 ins. But I am not sure it’s as cut and dry as dropping Ridley for a mid. That would leave us 1 short in terms of the defensive structure from the North game. I agree that if this structure can covered by someone else then Rids is the likely demotion along with an unlucky Ham

Since 1995 there have been 2,089,903 people watch the EFC v CFC Anzac Day footy. 24 games!

That's 87079 per game.

1995 was the biggest at 94,825. We had 5 more shots, for a drawn game. It was a lockout announced just before the game. I was in the line waiting to buy a ticket. :(

2004 57,294 was the lowest crowd. :-k

7 times more'n 90K have showed up.

Is there a bigger single event contest in Australia?

It's a sensational day, thanks Sheeds. =D>

Was there in ‘95. Absolutely sensational atmosphere. Grand Final like. Great game!

15 000 were supposedly locked out, which to me meant about 109 000 headed to the MCG that day.The capacity then was 108 000.The AFL Members got the blame for the Great G not being filled to absolute capacity!

You should hear the whinging over here about this fixture, with the egirls and dorkers mobs complaining that someone else should have this Direct fixture instead of Essendon and Collingwood.

I think I told them once or twice to get a bloody grip on Radio, including the time, they thought Perth Stadium would bring them into calculations for The ANZAC DAY Fixture. They also believe 60 000 is enough to host the AFL Grand Final! The Deluded Fools!

I've said this before, here and elsewhere.....

I just snuck into the game in '95 before the 'full-house' signs went up. It wasn't just before the game - it was not long after 1.00pm (well in The Great Southern Stand anyway). As I turned and look back across Jolimont Park, there were thousands and thousands of people making the trek from the city. They could have, and would have, had 150,000 that day if the ground was big enough.

And there still isn't a statue of Kevin Sheedy...........
My material isn't very good..Oh...and then there's the bladder problem.

Disappointed Parish is out, but not surprised. Baguley can consider himself lucky.
The emergencies are almost more interesting than the team.
Why is Long named as an emergency? Reports didn't suggest he did anything special in VFL last week.
And Draper named as insurance against another $20,000 fine :)

Our 4 highest draft picks of the last 5 years (McGrath excluded) all on the sidelines

Parish (5), Francis (6), Laverde (20) and Langford (17)

Where are we going wrong in developing young talent or am I being unfair

PS - On the flip side - our late draft and rookie selections have been in many cases pretty good (see Walla, McKenna, Fantasia, Ambrose)

If we had Jordan De Goey on the list, he would be on the sidelines. Wallowing in the VFL because of offield indiscretions or simply because they want him to work harder on his defence. Sometimes I wonder if we know what we’re doing with certain players. If Francis was anywhere else, he’d be one of the first picked, and he’d be starring.

Whatever comes from tomorrow’s result, I never tire of watching this 10 effort from years ago. Again, and again, and again and ...

According to EFC site Long is named as emergency, not Langford - https://www.essendonfc.com.au/news/2019 ... -anzac-day
