R7 Essendon v Geelong

Post by BenDoolan » Thu Apr 25, 2019 11:57 pm

Have a decent break before reloading and cracking the Cats. I think we can beat them provided we make some changes;

OUT: D. Smith (inj), D. Myers (Omit), T. Bellchambers (Omit), J. Ridley (Omit)

IN: O. Fantasia, K. Langford, S. Draper, A. Francis

Let's see how VFL and injuries go before selecting any ins.
But right now, the only change I'd make is Myers out and Fantasia back in.

Yes, I think it’s time to bring Langers and Frangers back 👍🏼

If Laverde has another cracking game, I’d consider him too.

Who makes way for Francis? Hurley, Hooker and Ambrose all had good games.
And Langford? Was just average in last VFL match even though the team thrashed the opposition. But anyway, who makes way for him? Presumably Myers. I'd rather give Ham, Mynott or D.Clarke a go - let's see what they can do.
Laverde? OK, if he plays great again. But if Begley stars I'd prefer him, again because Laverde has had many chances and I'd like to see what someone else has to offer. But again, who gets dropped? Fantasia to return next week. So who makes way?

VFL form should decide on who comes in along with team structure

Can Francis, Ambrose, Hurley and Hooker all play together in the same backline?

If Myers is omitted I will assume Worsfold has gotten back the blackmail photos...in other words, Myers will not be omitted. In this case you simply cannot have Langford come in as he and Myers together equals the Treacle Brothers.

If Smith is out then Parish retains his spot and Fantasia comes in.

Do we have room for Begley or Laverde in the F50? Certainly not both and with Fantasia back, I doubt another new name is needed

So for me, just the one Change

In Fantasia
Out Smith

I think the equation is simple. I’ve posted it in the OP. Francis in for Ridley. You want us to be a better team? Then you simply pick better players. Francis. Is. A. Better. Player.

Langford didn’t play VFL last week. This was mentioned elsewhere.

Smith will miss through injury.

Looks like we’ll be missing Mitch Brown for a few weeks with a fractured wrist

Time for Laverde...or Francis up forward.

or Hooker ........

More likely they'll play Laverde if he performs OK in the VFL today.

I do want to see Francis given a run of games.

Looks like Smith will be OK.

I went to the Hawthorn Geelong clash on Easter Monday. Neither team should hold any fears for us when we play to our potential. Largely bruise-free footy (hardly a tackle in the first half) and either are particularly quick.
My material isn't very good..Oh...and then there's the bladder problem.

So Smith is right ... (though I don't think he has had a great game so far this year) ... is the fact he typically starts off the ground for 10 minutes a "management" strategy?

So who goes out? Gulfi seems to be growing with regular games ... as is Ridley.

Parish IMO is suffering from the yo-yo selection and will also improve from consistency.

Myers is apparently untouchable.

Who goes?

No charges to answer for either of them.

Laverde came off late in the first with a hamstring complaint yesterday. Who replaces Brown?

Francis. Maybe that's why he played forward in the VFL.

So after the VFL played yesterday, here’s a re-think;

OUT: D. Smith (inj), M. Brown (inj), D. Myers, T. Bellchambers

IN: O. Fantasia, A. Francis, K. Langford, S. Draper

I thought Belly was ok against the pies. Grundy is the best ruck in the comp along with a fit NicNat.

I didn’t think Grundy had it all his own way....

Imo, only 2 changes
Brown our (inj), in Francis.
Fantasia in for Smith if he can’t get up for cats, otherwise Parrish, though I think Parrish has been ok last few games he’s had...

Yeah, nah, he needs a spell. Been sub-ordinary for a while.

I keep saying this...if he can’t stand up to the top 8 ruckman in the league, it’s time to move him on. You want to win finals? Then build a team that can.

Draper 47 hit outs yesterday. Good enough for me. Anyone see the bit of play where Draper got the clearance from the centre bounce that set up Mosquito’s 🦟 thrilling goal? That alone was better than anything Bellchambers has compiled in 6 games this year.

Not sure. He’s obviously sore. The club might go the conservative approach and rest him for a month...

Oh I don't think that is conservative enough for EFC. We may see him this round next year. 8)
