For all their shittyness - Carlton is one point down at 1/4 time.

Clarke at least is a shining light... 6 disp and already taken out an opponent

1 point ahead at quarter time. Should be 30. Our mids total shite once again, bombing to no one. We seem to have no idea how to react to their game plan. They are winning everything but the score atm. Thank God for our back line and the fact that they can't kick either.

Our skills are very bad. Gods help us when the rain comes. This game is pathetic. What has happened to the players???

NOT PLAYING FOR THE COACH,
NOT PLAYING FOR EACH OTHER,
DEFINATELY NOT PLAYING FOR THE SUPPORTERS/MEMBERS.

Is there anyone out on that ground who actually gives a sh1t???

Thank goodness for Langers and Parish. Both have been sensational. This is the youth that will carry us in the future.

We played a bit better that quarter, going a bit more direct and not trying to do as many cute little roundabout things. A terrible game overall with terrible skills on both sides and nothing even vaguely resembling a decent game plan.

Over possession leads to us giving up a goal ... play wet weather footy push it forward not back

That's it boys. A clean Mark a greasy ball lots of targets but let's kick it back into the defending 50 where they can easily score

We fell back into too much cutesy pie stuff that quarter, which often came unstuck. Just lucky Carlton are even worse than us and can't kick straight.

Yeah - I think he is doing OK. McNiece much better this week after a very quiet Q1. Clarke seems to have run out of puff after 1/2 time. Hurley and Hooker dominating even though it's wet.

McKernan having a shocker.

Biggest stat is at 3/4 time we have 52 clangers to their 64 (edit... needed my glasses).

Nice to see guys like Parish, Clarke, Guelfi, McGrath, Langford, Redman and Laverde doing well.

Guelfi was playing out of his skin today. Couldn't miss him with that hair. Sometimes like a big goofy kid but giving it all he's got. Great to see and I predict that if he stays injury free now, he will cement his place for a long time to come!

PROS

A win is a win, especially given our recent record against the scum
Winning without 5 of out Top 10 players and much of our Forward 6
Young Players stepping up - Clarke, Guelfi, McGrath, Parish
Better intensity and spread
Better F50 delivery
Solid win in VFL puts selection pressure on team

CONS

Some shocking disposal out of the D50 in the first half - missing targets and turnovers
Panic handballs to stationary players still a blight
Goal kicking - poor in first qtr

Overall, a better performance but let's be clear about this - the opposition are a rabble. Mid season break couldn't come quick enough to prepare for a must win against Hawthorn at Marvel in 2 weeks. Must improve substantially if we are to win that one.

Very lucky Carlton were that bad. As bad I’ve seen any team in a long while.
Big positive is we won all 4 quarters.
We could have absolutely smashed them but we’ll take a win anyway we can. Hopefully the confidence our young brigade need to establish themselves.

Only the second time we have beaten the team sitting 18th on the ladder in the last 7 attempts

That, in its own, sums up this football club over the last 5 years or so
