So Tom Hird and Mason Fletcher give AFL the arse.

Marvellous.

Three if you also include Alex Hird.

Sadly, they give a listicle of the Hird boys progress in soccer in every "James Hird Academy" newsletter.

Hird’s boys were never going to be “encouraged” to aim for AFL and that makes perfect sense. Hird can segue them into an international academy with his growing presence in the soccer scene in Asia and Europe.

As for Mason, I get the sense he was simply not up to scratch. I think the next Fletcher lad from all reports is the better prospect? Perhaps someone in the know can shed more light on this?

Mason Fletcher would've been another Jake Long.

Possibly correct call about whether he could/would make it.

Calder played Mason at Full Forward this year and not in defense. Kicked something like 15 goals in 8 games. Sadly kicked 5 behinds in the final.

If he really wanted to do AFL (and lets be frank, he has been raised to do so), then he made a bad call in withdrawing from the draft last year, would have been gifted a rookie spot despite his injury.

Personally I`m saddened to think that I have seen the last Hird running around :(

But more than saddened, I am angry at the circumstances that brought around this entire situation

How much is that fkng saga going to hurt, and keep on hurting our club?. The final cost is probably unable to be calculated, but it is fkng-well HUGE.
