Delistings
Confirmed by Rutten....Shaun McKernan will not be offered a new contract.
Rutten has also stated that tough conversations have been held with other players.

Re: Delistings
Tough conversations mean nothing to me. They shouldve been held 2 years ago. Sack em all!!

Re: Delistings
Agree, but I wouldn't be surprised to now see Rutten completely rebuild this squad over 2 to 3 years. He has to be brutal and not suffer anymore of this kid glove approach. Saga fallout can no longer be the excuse. Veterans from that era must not be guaranteed game time if they are not performing. I wouldn't be surprised if Rutten was behind dropping Hooker. It certainly doesn't feel like something Worsfold would do. And players who think they are better than the club should be shown the door and we use them for the best possible trades/draft picks. We should not go near the Free Agent market to waste big coin on mercenary types.

Re: Delistings
Very much agree. We are staring at a past and a future of hasbeens and the more we trade away our picks, the less options we have to change our policy, as no worthwhile young talent is coming up.Windy_Hill wrote: ↑Sat Sep 19, 2020 8:13 pmAgree, but I wouldn't be surprised to now see Rutten completely rebuild this squad over 2 to 3 years. Re: Delistings
Zacka and Cutler are contracted I think. I think we should keep Will Snelling, Hurley is contract until 2022. Brayden Ham is worth persevering with needs to get into the gym and not come out for four months. Jayden Laverde I think they will keep.
Orazio might go back to S.A. Aaron Francis? Paddy A ? That leaves seven.
Be interesting to see exactly what the coach does???????????????????????????????
JoeDan may or may not stay, Saad is checking out his options and may go, he is very disappointed with the club. I hope Merrett stays. Guelfi has asked for a trade back to W.A. wouldn't be surprised to see him playing for Freeo.
H'm that will cut a hole in the list. When is drafting is it in November???? Be interesting to see what Rutten does - no more learnings, thanks.
Nothing usually happens until something happens.
Re: Delistings
Mutch
Begley
Gown
Hibberd
All gone.
Guelfi likely as well.

Essendon Football Club- We arent arrogant, just deluded.
Re: Delistings
I actually don’t mind Hibberd and Cutler as backup players and if they can improve to be in the best 22 even better. I’d hold for another season at least

Re: Delistings
I think there may be one or two more delistings before we are done depending on the contract renewals with other players. Surely if Saad stays then Gleeson goes. Likewise Laverde must be dependent on whether Joe stays or not. He is nothing but a cameo player. Offers some depth I guess.
Re: Delistings
No shockers there.
Re: Delistings
Guelfi isn't getting delisted. He's just gone, back to WA.Windy_Hill wrote: ↑Sun Sep 20, 2020 8:05 pmGuelfi is borderline for me. Shows a bit of mongrel but lacks a real weapon in his game.

Mitch Hibberd - contracted, I think. (EDIT) Woops, obviously not contracted
Townsend
Redman - contracted
I added Townsend & Redman as I've seen a lot of people saying they should be "no longer required" also.

Re: Delistings
Didnt Cutler sign multi year deal when he came ??
Re: Delistings
Can't say I've got a strong feeling that any of them should have stayed, but interesting choices.
Especially when you look at Ridley. Drafted 2016 and only 9 games before this year.
Yet Begley & Mutch drafted same year, restricted by injuries, have played only 17 & 5 games respectively, and only 1 each this year.
And Gown hasn't had a crack at it at all, although kicked 17 goals in 12 VFL games last year.
And then there's Laverde, has 46 games under his belt, and out of contract but still here (so far).
