EFC Epic Efforts
EFC Epic Efforts
Worth reflecting on EFC’s best individual performances over the history of the club. The top 3 disposal numbers in a match:
44 DISPOSALS
Darcy Parish (25 kicks, 19 handballs, 8 marks, 0 goals, 2 behinds) v Richmond in 2021 in a 39 point loss
Darcy Parish (13 kicks, 31 handballs, 1 mark, 0 goals, 0 behinds) v Collingwood in 2022 in an 11 point loss
Nic Martin (31 kicks, 13 handballs, 8 mark, 0 goals, 1 behind) v St.Kilda in 2024 in an 4 point win
43 DISPOSALS
Barry Davis (28 kicks, 15 handballs, 12 marks, 2 goals, 2 behinds) v Footscray in 1969 in a 12 point loss
Darcy Parish (23 kicks, 20 handballs, 5 marks, 1 goal, 0 behinds) v Geelong in 2021 in a 41 point loss
Darcy Parish (19 kicks, 24 handballs, 5 marks, 0 goal, 0 behinds) v Richmond in 2022 in a 32 point loss
42 DISPOSALS
Michael Thomson (20 kicks, 22 handballs, 5 marks, 3 goals, 2 behinds) v St.Kilda in 1983 in a 47 point win
Darcy Parish (24 kicks, 18 handballs, 6 marks, 2 goals, 0 behinds) v Collingwood in 2021 in a 24 point win
41 DISPOSALS
Joe Misiti (21 kicks, 20 handballs, 5 marks, 4 goals, 0 behinds) v North Melbourne in 2000 QF in a 125 point win
Jason Johnson (24 kicks, 17 handballs, 8 marks, 1 goal, 1 behind) v St.Kilda in 2006 in a 3 point loss
Jobe Watson (17 kicks, 24 handballs, 8 marks, 0 goals, 0 behinds) v Collingwood in 2008 in a 48 point win
Zach Merrett (20 kicks, 21 handballs, 5 marks, 0 goals, 1 behind) v Hawthorn in 2018 in a 4 point loss
I obviously wasn’t around when Barry Davis created a club record, but that looks like some sort of game he played - albeit in a loss.
I’ve seen all other efforts except Michael Thomson’s (I didn’t attend that game). Thomson’s game was huge.
I rate Joe Misiti’s the best. It was in a final, and he was absolutely immaculate that day. I reckon he went at 95% efficiency - no crap. 4 goals to boot. Outstanding perforjance.
Dasher comes in second for the best performance I’ve seen from that list. Quality performance yesterday.

Re: EFC Epic Efforts
Fantastic post
Re: EFC Epic Efforts
It’ll be interesting to see what Darcy follows up with (especially as we play Carlton - see below). Some of the above had real “downers” the following week. Others just kept on keeping on...
Barry Davis 36 disposals v Carlton
Michael Thomson 8 disposals v Fitzroy
Joe Misiti 31 disposals v Carlton PF
Jason Johnson 19 disposals v Carlton
Jobe Watson 18 disposals v Melbourne
Zach Merrett 31 disposals v St.Kilda
Darcy Parish 26 disposals v Carlton

I thought Joe had about 36 for the next one mate and similar in the Big One.Whatever they were,he had a Superb Finals Series.Won an esteemed Club Medal for that, didn’t he?BenDoolan wrote: ↑Tue Apr 27, 2021 1:22 amIt’ll be interesting to see what Darcy follows up with (especially as we play Carlton - see below). Re: EFC Epic Efforts
According to AFL Tables, he got just a lazy 31. He then got 26 in the Granny - with James Hird gathering 29 disposals, 2 goals, and the Norm Smith.grassy1 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 27, 2021 2:22 amI thought Joe had about 36 for the next one mate and similar in the Big One.Whatever they were,he had a Superb Finals Series.Won an esteemed Club Medal for that, didn’t he?BenDoolan wrote: ↑Tue Apr 27, 2021 1:22 amIt’ll be interesting to see what Darcy follows up with (especially as we play Carlton - see below). But Smokin’ Joe certainly was smokin’ in that finals series. Absolutely killed it. In fact, Misiti played extremely well in just about every final he played. Just lifted a cog for the occasion. Something Leon Baker was able to do also.

And the good news is that there is a young Misiti coming through the ranks now, he is 18yo so prolly not a baby but, it will be good to see young Joshua ply his trade.BenDoolan wrote: ↑Tue Apr 27, 2021 6:01 amAccording to AFL Tables, he got just a lazy 31. Re: EFC Epic Efforts
He’s racking up quite a set of numbers this season. Doubt he’ll ever go back to the ‘part’ role he used to play.
What does this mean for Shiel??
Interesting
Re: EFC Epic Efforts
Bonce’s favourite non recruit Jye Bolton got 49 disposals yester,..........never mind!
Re: EFC Epic Efforts
Did that lower his age?

Re: EFC Epic Efforts
Doc Martin had it on a string. Probably could have got 45 of Drapes passed it to him in the dying seconds…
Re: EFC Epic Efforts
Ever since they got rid of the “kick to yourself” kick in requirement.
The way I see it… it’s a kick taken after a point is kicked. No different to a kick taken after a ‘kick out on the full’… which Martin was also a recipient of.
One way to stop defenders getting “cheap kicks” from kick outs, is to kick the goal. Problem solved.

Re: EFC Epic Efforts
Martin used the ball at 75% effectiveness and had 7 clangers (at least one of which gifted the saints a goal)
That means 33 of his 44 disposals went to a teammate and was capable of being marked or easily received.
He did not receive a single free kick. Not one.
And he was on the ground 97% of the game. He only had one break on the bench.
That's a pretty fair effort.
In comparison, Parish has a 57% disposal effectiveness but as it was his first game this year ... you can understand that
